Me without dreads. Granted, this is haircolor is far from natural, but still, the hair itself did come out of my own head.
Me with my first set of extensions, done in the summer of 2001. I loved these. I miss having pink hair (and also a full head of it! Damned undercut....)
I had about a million and a half sets of extensions... these were installed in October 2002.
Stripy double-ended dreads, worn for Halloween in 2003. That was the day that my various bosses asked me "why don't you wear your hair like that all the time?" I was thrilled.
The first set of "I will wear my hair like this to school" dreads. I had these in from October to December 2003.
Looooong red double-ended dread extensions, made and put in by me in January 2004.
A few weeks after I removed my extensions (sometime in June, 2004), discovered that my scalp was too bloody and weak to unpick the little dreads that had formed, and decided to just let my hair lock on its own. I did give the ends a hand after a while, but the first three or four inches started because of the extension braids.
Same day, different angle. You can see the half-braid, half-dreads at the base.
July 2004. I was bored one afternoon and took about a million photos of my almost bum-length hair. It's shrunk considerably since then!
I'm almost incapable of taking a serious photo of myself.
The day I discovered the joy of putting fake flowers in my hair (August 2004). I was tightening my hair by pulling the ends through the base. MISTAKE! I have a few inches of very narrow, braidy-looking dreads because of this practice.
September 2004. My hair looked only a bit less fluffy, but felt rock hard and finally stopped loosening up like crazy in the shower.
They looked much fuller too.
A very strange closeup of my face taken sometime in the fall of 2004.
Me this Spring. The neckbrace later came off, and I'm fine. Just so you know, it IS possible to hurt yourself when sleeping!
Another Spring photo... maybe taken in April? I'd long since learned not to loop my dreads through themselves and found the joy of just rubbing the crap out of them.
A funky black and white shot... granted, it's hard to see the dreads, but I love this photo and had to include it.
Me in my classroom, taken in April. This shows how much shorter and tighter my hair has become.
The damned undercut. Someone snapped this pic in June 2005, and I've been reluctant to tie my hair back like this ever since. I need to develop enough patience to just grow out the stupid thing! :(
Another photo of me making a goofy face. My father gets a bit annoyed when he looks through family albuns and sees this face over, and over, and over....
Me about 15 minutes ago. I'm home from work with a fierce, fierce, fierce tension headache (ugh) and I can only sit in bed for so long before resorting to futzing around with the digicam.
