(no subject)

Hrmmm...I fear this will sound offensive or something. I hope not.

I was at some bar thing tonight, and there was a black guy sitting across from us. He was staring at me like, "oh my gawd, you poser" or something. And when I returned his eye contact and said, "what?" he said "nothing, my girlfriend is just telling me to be nice." then he shook his head in some kind of disbelief/disgrace thing. What the heck?

My best friend is black. My adopted family is black. But I've never asked them whether seeing white people with dreads offends them, or whether they think we are "ripping off black culture" or something.

I'm not trying to be rude, just honestly wondering....anyone here a part of the black community? Thoughts? Opinions??? I'm honestly curious. What do black people think when they see white people with dreads? I mean, obviously some view it in different ways than others...but generally....????
