head ache

ok, so this whole roots things just isnt working for me...because of the sleeping cap i have, and anything else that goes around my head my roots are forming up and kinda curling down making my hair look alot bigger then it should...so i thought i would just put the rubber bands back on the roots....but i think i did them too tight cuz im totaly about to kill someone...does it matter if they are tight or not?!?!?!?!?!?!!?

Woo... So great to see that there's a dreadlock community on LJ :)

I'm Tessa, 18 years old and from the Netherlands. I've had dreadlocks for about 2,5 years, but I decided to cut them off at the beginning of this year. It was just one big mess... But I'm planning to have dreads again this summer... Looking so much forward to it :)

when i still had my hair :)

dear dreadheads,
i don't mean to sound "holier-than-thou" in any way, but i feel that having dreadlocks is a mostly instinctual thing.
if you feel you should palmroll, then palmroll. if you feel you should fix the roots, tie 'em up and fix 'em.
i've had dreads for 4 months now, i don't use wax, i wash them once a week, i spray them with saltwater, i play with the ends and i rip them apart as i see fit. they are not by any means perfect, but i'm relying on time to perfect them for me.
i don't think dreadlocks are really anything to worry so much about. this doesn't go to say that you shouldn't pay any attention to them. just use your god-given logic and intuition, and trust yourself, and all will be well.

hey everyone. I have been watching this community for awhile and totally love it. I want to get dreads so badly, and this community has helped me answer so many questions I had. But I still have this one concern that maybe one of you had/have. When I don't wash my hair regularly I break out. My skin stays ok as long as I wash my hair and face everyday, I don't want my skin to get really bad.

But I am going to get dreads, and I am so excited about them. Where I live there are not a lot of people who have dreads and I can't wait to be seen with them- in fact I have to drive 40 mins to get them-- I don't know anyone around here who knows how to dread. But I have loved them and wanted them for years, and now it's time. :)

But was anyone else concerned about their skin? Any suggestions? Thanks
