ready to dread, but I have some questions [06 Apr 2003|05:40am]
Okay, I got my tattoo parlour shop job back, so I can now dread my hair without fear of my boss firing me. I'm planning on using Knottyboy Wax to do it.
My hair is very thick and it's down to my butt. How much wax am I going to need for the initial dreading and few weeks thereafter?
Also, has anyone used their new darker wax yet? I have really dark brown hair, so I'm wondering if it would be better, or if the lighter color is fine. It seems like the darker stuff would rub off on everything and be messy.

I am at your mercy, o' dreaded ones.

There's something about this community that differentiates it from others. What is it? I have read some of your journals. Your love affairs, lonliness and reflections. I feel a bit guilty, but then they *are* public aren't they? There is something different going on here. A certain type of person who comes. I guess I'm a stereotype. A dreadlocked, vegetarian, philosophy student who won't say no to a joint. But, that's just surface structure. The caverns in which we live are decorated so differently. I dance in goth clubs, I play german board games, I write dubious poetry. I wonder what unsaid quality attracts us all to these knotted snakes in our heads? Whatever it is, this is a good place. Somewhere I belong. It's not often you can say that. So, thanks.

ok my dreads are pissing me off big style today.
theres so many little stray shitty bits of hair on the top of my head. i always put em into other dreads with hair bands or whatever but more always appear. loads of my hair is really..."hairy" lol, as opposed to dreaded. it just doesnt seem to matt anymore. i dont wash it...which may be bad i guess. in the last year and 4 months i have got it soaked with water about twice (once i dunked it under in the bath). when i tie it up, the front of my head looks really undreaded, but the back looks cool. arrr i really dont know what to do. btw, quite a few of my dreads are natural and the rest were done by me. i use dax wax on them sometimes (but quite rarely). i tend to just leave them, but i play with them a lot, rubbing the ends to dread them up or palm rolling them to make them better. i love my dreads because theres so many different lengths and thicknesses (ive got some very phat ones yaaayy =) ) ... but hmmm what would be the best way to maintain them? (i wish i could post some pictures so i could describe it better) =(

12:49 = i jus had a shower and washed them ... hope it did them some good!

this question has probably been asked a million times..but whats the best way to fix roots?

that rubbing in one direction in circles for a long time doesnt work, and back combing roots makes the dreads lumpy, and who wants lumpy dreads?

also, i think im gunna finally finish dreading my entire head...i
