does anyone else completly disaggree with using dreadlocks as fashion? When i joined this community i though it was tottally the shit, i love dreads with a passion i only have for very few things. But it seems like everytime i read a post about people ripping their hair into dreads, or drowning them in chemicals it makes me naushes. Thats not what dreadlocks are all about, dreadlocks were meant to be natural, they're not just a cool alternative hairstyle to me, they're are an expression of ones soul that takes years of patience and wisdom to grow and mature. So let me know, is anyone else sometimes offended by the views on dreadlocks by many of the members of this communtity?

Alright, I just started my dreads 1 week and 3 days ago. Yes, I am counting. I was wondering how exactly I'm supposed to go about dreading the tips. They seem to come unraveled constantly, but only for about 2 inches or so. Does anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking maybe I should rubberband the tips, dread them as much as possible, then later chop off what didn't dread. And about how long will it take before I start seeing the fuller effect of the dreading. Thicker & tighter dreads, etc.

Even tho i didn't stick around here for long and i really never gave myself a chance to take and post pictures of my dreads up, all good things must come to and end. and if favor or my parents i had my mom brush my dreads out. as impossible as i thought it was i guess i was wrong after 4 hours of pain, 4 pounds of conditioner and a lot of patience she brushed them out. its a crazy thing but heres for the sake of once having dreads.. even if none of these pictures were when they were like matured they still give you a bit of an idea of what i was going for. i lost a part of me.
