a few inquiries

Hello. My baby-dreads are just over 3 months old (I posted pics the first week they existed) and starting to shape up decently, but I have a few questions for y'all.

1. Everytime I wash (which has been pretty frequently, about every 2, 3 or 4 days with Dr. Bronner's) the ends have been coming undone. So, this weekend I spent a lot of time backcombing the ends, and I'm trying to go as long as I can stand it without washing in hopes that they will start to dread up nicely and the tips won't be in such a fragile state. However, I'm already starting to have a strong case of the itchies. Aside from washing them, what are good ways to eliminate the itch? (preventing as well as fixing it)... And, preferably ways that are really cheap or things that I will already have around the apartment.

And I apoligize if that topic has already been covered.

2. I'm a college sophomore who doesn't officially have a major. I'm thinking about Elementary Ed. Do you guys think my hair would be a hindrance to a career in education or not accepted in the field? Any teachers out there with dreads? I was just thinking/wondering about it a bit recently.

Thanks!

Do it alone or have someone help?

Today I went to the salon to get my dreads twisted again. I hate having to pay $75 bucks every time I go. I should do it myself. Ya know once my hair was washed they got really big. I was so happy, but once she got done twisting em they got really small. I don't know anymore, but I do know I want fat locks. Well, as time pass I just hope they expand again. Any suggestion on what I should do?
