I'm new to this community, found it earlier when at my gfs house.. she is "chubbyshroomies"..she posted earlier asking if she should dread her hair...anyway these pics of of my dreads when they were just baby dreadies...ive had them since spring break last year....im going to post up more recent pics tomorrow....
right now i have only the top of my hair dreaded... i am growing the bottom to dread it also .....
............ should i continue to grow the bottom or shave the bottom and only keep the top? when i first got dreads i would shave the bottom half (scroll down to see how that looked)
background: started using backcombing method, separated by rubber bands for only two weeks, used some organic "locking gel" stuff from walgreen's that I can't remember the brand of and blew dry with every application, a little beeswax in the beginning, dread head supa soap every couple of weeks (and repeated backcombing after washing)... now I use knotty boy bar soap about once a week, blow 'em dry dry dry after washing, and I don't put anything in them except occasional hair dye. and that's that.
how do you backcomb dreads once you have them? do you just do it to the roots? or the ends? or can you do it to the actual dread? or do should it not even be done? thanks.
okay, i've had dreads for almost 5 months now and my tips keep undreading themselves. i tried re-backcombing them, cutting off the excess and waxing all of them. and they were good for awhile after that but now they're starting up again. am i going to have to keep backcombing and cutting off the tips? anyone in the NSW area, besides from cityrail as complications have arrised, feel the need to do dreads for moi?! anytime soon?! I will be extremely greatful!
I cut my dreads off in October after having them for six months and I'm going to have them done again but this time I'm not going to let them turn into shit. I have super straight thin hair and they seemed to fall out easily.
Any tips on what to do before dreading them or aftercare to make them stronger and stay in?
alright i wanna know if anyone can answer this. I've had dreads for about 9 months but there not locked up and i'm gonna start water polo on wednesday. i put rubber bands on the root and tips of each one. do you think that being in the water for two hours 6 days a week will mess up the dreads.
