Dreadie hats anyone?

so i've been crocheting these nice dreadie hats lately. my husband really wanted one and all the ones we found online and in stores were rediculously expensive. so i just taught myself to make them instead, and it turns out i'm pretty good at it. : ) so i didn't know if anyone would want to have me make one for them? (moderator: if this isn't ok to post here, let me know and i'll delete it. i didn't see anything in the community info about anything like this, so my guess is that it'd be cool. apologies if it's not!)

I got dreads!

You might remember me from when I posted a picture of myself a while ago and asked if you thought I should get dreads. Then someone started whining about whether or not people should do that, and the entire thing escalated into an argument about whether or not salon dreads are real dreads, and so on. Well, I'm back, and I've got dreads! I got them done in the salon, and I don't want to hear any negative comments about that! Got it? Good.

I put two of the photos in black and white because I didn't get any sleep last night, so my eyes look really puffy.

I love them.

Washing

I'm new here, so please do pardon my ignorance. I have a question about hair washing.

I wash my hair weekly. I twist the roots everytime I wash, and I sleep with a bandana on. The whole process takes about 5-6 hours. Sometimes I don't have the time to twist it, so I just wash it.

How frequently are you guys washing your hair? If you aren't washing, why not (legitimate fears)? I must preface this by saying in big letters PLEASE DON'T TAKE OFFENSE but: It seems like most of the posters here are caucasian. I'm sure that the texture of my hair is the reason I have different results, but I've never considered NOT washing my hair. It seems like a lot of posters' issues are with the dreads coming loose with washing?

I'm also wondering if you are using a lot of products, which can sometimes have an adverse affect over time.

Again, no offense offered, I am curious and a bit naive, that's all. :)
