ok so as some of you may know, i am dreadless. and i really long to have them. but mama says no.
so i was thinking about it today. and i realised i wasn't really read to ahve them anyways yet. cause i still like my hair how it is now. (i think it's perty).
so then i thoguht about it "college alli dear, wait till you go away to college" cause i figure that's gunna really be the time to change and become who i really want to be forever. and all that sentimental stuff.
so i'll do it then. because:
1. it gives me something to look forward to... a graduation present type deal. 2. i know im not gunna want to be in those community showers... so wa-la 3. i'll be ready for them and aprpecaite it
ok so it's a dumb story about my fusutre dreads and i, but i was happy when i thought about it =)
Alright, enough is enough. My dreads are awful! I love them and all, but they just aren't being cooperative! They are dreading in the middle, but the roots and the bottoms are still just.. normal hair. I'm not sure how to dread the entire lock... any suggestions?
it kind of makes me mad when people ask me "oh, are you trying to grow dreads?"
no, i HAVE dreads. they may not be what 3 year old, smooth, lovely dreadlocks look like, but i have dreads all the same.
i mean, i love them. they make me happy. i was talking to a barista at starbucks last night with kick ass dreads, and we were talking for awhile about them (ya know, that wierd bond of strangers with dreadies) and she laughed and told me it took awhile for hers to "not look like a homeless person) and my supposed best friend was like, "yeah sarah, thats what you look like. i hope they start looking good, because i'm getting embarrassed."
Does anyone else have days where you simply want to pamper your dreads? What kind of a routine do you have on those days, when you just want to spend quality time with your locks and make them happy?
I usually wash and palmroll with peppermint and lavender oil, which makes them feel fresh far longer than anything else. Right now mine are at that lovely four month stage where the middle sections tend to be happy and in the process of locking, but the roots and tips are absolutely unruly. I completely embrace this mess, the life cycle of baby locks, but once in awhile it's nice to tame the dragon for an afternoon and make them feel special.
ok so i know a lot of you all get bribes from family/friends to take your dreads out or cut them off. and here is my question to you all: what was the best/weirdest bribe youve ever gotten (that you either took up the offer being presented, or didnt)?
just wondering because this is the best bribe that ive gotten since ive had them:
my dad told me that if i took out my dreads (ive had them roughly 8 months now) that he would give me the car that we share and it would be completely mine when i turned 17, which i will turn in december.
a very tempting bribe but not good enough because ill definately be getting a car when im 18 anyway. so i only have to wait an extra year.
but that is far better then the things he started off with like 'oh you can get any hair style/cut/dye you want if you take them out.' psh as if dad. this is my ideal hair style >.< no need to go any further.
so yeah give me some feed back because im curious.
well i've wanted to put pictures on here like all you smart people do, but i can't figure out how to get my pictures hosted or whatever, so here's a link to my pictures on myspace. i dunno if the get up dread up police are gonna get mad at me for this, but oh well. http://www.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=2853332&friendName=laurenabobbit&Mytoken=20040810155507 kinda a weird link, but i hope it works, and i hope you guys take one second to look at it. and if you have myspace, make me your friend cause i just started it and i have like 2 friends. i love this community so much cause im so dread obsessed. let me know if it works or if i just did something illegal.
Alright.. I HATE to post in here for like the 2nd time today but, I really REALLY want dreadlocks. Or whatever..as soon as I can get them...
I have little money to buy rubberbands/comb & thats about all I can afford..I have no dreadwax..& have no clue what I should be using wax wise to start my dreads..
I've read the websites, knottyboy/dreadheadhq and learned how to backcomb & everything..but, I've tried to do it..and my roots have been real fuzzy and the rest was just one big fuzz..this is with a plastic comb, though.
If I CAN do it without wax..I just need to know how..and everything because, I'm confused.
Also, if I do this would I palmroll it to get it to stay together..
I don't know what to do know..right now is when I need help the most..& I love this community and I don't want to seem annoying I just need help.
Hi I'm Simiya! I've been a memeber here for a while but I haven't posted many pictures! My dreads are around 8 months! They will be 9 months old on the 23rd! :D I posted pictures the day after I did them but...that was a long time ago!
These pcitures don't do my dreadies much justice because my camera takes disgusting pictures but, they give you a peep untill I can get better ones. They look better in person than in pics!
every dreadhead has a bad day, where your dreads just dont seem to look 2 good... well i captured that today, today is by far one of my most hated hair days... I did a tone adjust to the pictures so you can see the hair better. Tell me what you think
Ive been making these little hair-ornament-skewer-things lately and I wanted to show them off. I've found that I can't wear interesting hair clips and such like I could with undreaded hair because the dreads are too thick for the clips to close. After experimenting with gluing things to beads and bobby pins, I've found a great way to decorate my dreads using little wooden skewers that they often sell in grocery stores.
