ok so i came across this community...i duno man. backcombing and wax and all that shit is not the way to go. all the websites like dreadheadhq and shit discourage natural dreading because they want u to buy all their shit. i mean have u looked at the guy that runs that site he looks like shit. all his dreads look exactly the same and theres no other hair. it just looks fake to me but maybe thats what you guys like. i also keep reading about how fucked ur hair is after like 6 months or even over a year. thats retarded. ok if you want your hair not to suck this is what u do. it has to be at least like 7 or 8 inches for this to start working. or if you have straight thin hair.. the longer ur hair the fast it will work. ah u know what.. fuck it. ill let all u lame asses have fake dreads. fuck this.

the itchies [11 Aug 2004|08:40am]
Sorry, gross subject, but I'm sure you know how it feels...how do you stop your head from itching? I bought some tea tree oil and put some drops w/ water in a spray bottle and have been using that, but it isn't helping. And ignoring the itch is only making it worse :( What do you guys do?

Four Months (EDITED!) [11 Aug 2004|11:28am]
[ mood | dirty ]

Hey kids. I just washed my hair and it seems to be happy. Dr. Bronners is the shit; i think i'm going to have to stock up on it before i leave for college in case i can't find any around Oberlin.

This is from France in July

and here are my four month old babiesCollapse )

My mom's parrot keeps landing on my head, and she said it thinks my hair is a nest. HA!

this is for all your thin fined hair gals and boys:

You know the whole deal with parting your hair into 1 inch sections...well since our hair it so thin/fine what not ...there isnt alot of hair in that one inch!...
So my question is..did you just keep the 1 inch and let them dread off that little amount of hair...or did you make the section larger? Annnnnd whatever you did tell me! and tell me how your dreads are comin along and pictures would be super fine too! thank a bunch...

Im dreading this Saturday! EXCITMEANT! I'm meeting up with a couple dreadheads from this very own get up dead up, in toronto noonish in a random park for a picnic and dreading!! If any of you guys in the toronto area wanna stop by..its be wicked...ill post which park when i know!

woo..take it easy

[ mood | confused ]

current stage of my supposeably 4-5 month old dreadies..
ended up taking one out last night, and then relised it was a mistake..for what reason i dont know. the effort of removing the single lock hurt, my hands and my scalp...However i took a dread out last night because i was trying to escape the feeling of dandruff inside it. didnt work, i still have copious amounts of it in numerous dreads.

anywho here is the state of my current locks. Really awful. but oh well.

lay your head down child i wont let the boogey man comeCollapse )

Since no one wants to scroll back thru two weeks worth of entries for a contest(and I'll make this all caps so there are no mistakes):

Sorry to shout but people didn't understand me first time.

And don't vote yet. I'm going to make a poll for voting.

new dreads = new questions [11 Aug 2004|05:59pm]
does anyone know of a sort of wax alternative that i acan put on my new babies to hold -em together, like pull in all the rebelling hair? i'm just not sure that wax is what i want to use. lemme rephrase that. i don't want to use wax, but i think maybe if there's something other substitute, i'd try it?
i think.
help the confused new dreadie

Forum [11 Aug 2004|09:43pm]
hey all, i was thinking of starting up a good forum for this community, basicly we would still use this as a journal and all, but it would be in many ways the same of course, but you could post pics and text and it would not slide down so easy when others enter a entry.... i could put my artistic tallent and call it the same thing Get up Dread up... what do you guys think? Good idea or waste?

Here it is! i would love for everyone to sign up and start posting, also if you think i should add anything or change anything just tell me on the forum under (anything).
is the link!!

I will also be looking for moderators and another possable admin.
