hi dread community... im new here, and sadly i am not apart of your dread-head family. Thats right. Sad, but i have such desire for dreads, not sure how to go about getting them done, or if i realllly think i want to do it. I know its a huge committment, but i just love them. . .. . and i dont want to have to cut them out later on in life...

Just an advice [17 Aug 2004|11:06am]
[ mood | creative ]

This is how I actually look, maybe my dreadies are a little bit shorter :

(i've "normal" hair in front of, and behind my scalp)
(they're probably better pictures of me on my livejournal if u have time....)

But it's been a while since I didn't change of hair cut, i want to keep my dreads but I want to look more "original". Maybe you've get some ideas of a new hair cut with dreadies which would look good on me, with pictures...?
thx in advances :)

how different do dread perm dreads look from backcombed/natural dreads? i mean i know a dreadperm exists but when i thought about it i realized i didnt actually ever know what they looked like, other than i got the impression that they are nice and tight right away but people probably look down on them bcause theres less of a journey involved. im not sure if im babbling at all. does anyone know what i mean/could show me the difference?

It's getting' to be time [17 Aug 2004|12:22pm]
[ mood | cheerful ]

I am thinking I have one-two more weeks of growing left to do to get my hair the length I want for the dreads I want. I work for a .com and they don't usually care about appearance as long as it's somewhat clothed. haha!

Anyhow, I was curious if we have, in this community a Before/After page of photos.

You know something where people have had pics taken right before the dredding and then right after the dredding to show pre-dread lenght vs. post-dread length.

It seems to be a common question, that and how to get rid of itching. =)

I'd be willing to host the photos on my site if the bandwidth and space is needed and people are willing to submit their photos.

Then maybe, if that works out and we have some good examples we can just link it off the FAQ section?

Also, does this already exist and I'm just reinventing the wheel?

Lemme know what you all think. I luv ya all. My dreddy bettys and knotty boys!

yay for new dreads! [17 Aug 2004|02:54pm]
so i had dreads last summer, and was 'forced' to 'remove' them. i haven't combed my hair since (well except when i got my hair cut/done for prom) and have noticed that lately its been knoting up more and more in the back. i have a few little ones started completely naturally in the back, and today i did the rip and twist to have a few upfrount as well. im excited. it looks so great, since ive always had that messy head look anyways :) yay :)

what is the best way to get the rest of my hair to dread on its own naturally and hopefully quickly?

I should be getting my hair dreaded Friday. Im very excited. But, my friend said she wasnt going to use wax. I read the memories. And alot of you say to not use wax. Does anyone have any pictures of their dreads( only if you havent used wax) i'd just like to see if it's how i hope for my dreads to come out.

i also hope dread's will look good on me, but im not so sure :x

Hellooooo, am new here, just in the (very painful and hard work!) process of dreading my hair...I had no idea it took so long! I've been working on the same dread for almost 2 hours and I'm still not making much progress =S

Here's a piccie of me with some synthetic dreads I had recently;

Shall post some piccies of the final result when (if!) if I'm finished :)
