I had my first university chem lab period yesterday. If you have long hair you have to tie it back....I hadn't realized how much my dreads have grown, so this was the first time I ever tried putting my hair up/back. Of course I had to take pictures to celebrate!Collapse )

I'm back. I'm hoping to grow dreadlocks again. But at the moment I have braids. So, any tips on turning braids into dreads?

When I am rejoined by my usb cable to upload more dread pictures next week I will - but for the momment I just felt like sharing my little story. My hair is naturally wavy, and lately my little dreadies are trying to curl up on me, and it's so amusing! Basically the entire bottom layer of dreads are trying to turn into ringlets, they're pretty wild! Plus when I have them in pigtails now they're all kinky and crazy and I often unknowingly knock things over with them.

Also, I checked the memories section about roots, but I'm just wondering how long it's taken most of you to have your roots start to naturally dread themselves? I've had mine for almost 2 months now, and I've tried various ways of rubbing them and whatnot, but they aren't cooperating. Should I just stop trying to work with the roots and let them do it on their own accord?

Sorry for being such a post whore, I just need to know a lot about dreads, because well.. i'm not an expert. I just dyed half of my dreadlocks black, and well.. a lot of the shoter ones fell out, so I put rubber bands on the tips and on the root. So.. after a while they'll just start to knot? And, if I put bleach on black hair, it'll come out blonde right? 'Cause I heard it can come out copper, sometimes. My hair isn't super black, it's mostly brown, but still... I don't want it to come out and ew copper colour! =\

my sister told me that aloe is good for dreads? has anyone else used aloe before? i'd imagine that it would make them sticky and nasty.

in other news...i just returned from seeing ani!
she was incredible, as always.

she cut her dreads!! now she has little stumpy ones.

i saw many other dreadheads there as well.
