Does anyone here wash his or her dreads with a "regular" shampoo? So far, I have found myself not liking most soaps recommended for washing dreads (Knottyboy, Dr. Bronners, etc...). Mine are a little over a year old and pretty tight so that I'm wondering if it would be so bad for them if I were to start washing with Herbal Essences or something like that. Has anyone done this with any success or is it likely to lead to trouble down the road?

I made a friend last time I was in Phoenix, AZ and she had pretty dreads:

Her name is Dawn and she's awesome.

Speaking of Dawn, have any of you heard of the Rainbow Gathering?

loose roots ;)

Hi all!
I started doing dreads for my husband after getting the dread head kit about 6 months ago. At first they were going really well then I got pretty slack with keeping up with them and now basicly all the roots are REALLY loose. The middle and bottom look pretty good, very dreaded but I have no idea what to do with the tops. I have tried back combing and then read somewhere that it makes it worse. Any advice on how to make the tops dreaded would be much apprecaited. Please help! :)
