hey folks, saruh here today and for the next two days i am participating in a concert at my school that celebrates american composers. to be honest, the music we are doing is lame, but it is a good experience nonetheless. anyway, there is one composer who is showcasing a piece of his and i think he is definitely one of the coolest people in the world. he has long (down to his midback) thin dreadlocks and charisma that emanates from him. so yesterday when he walked onto the stage during rehearsal he asked everyone "can a composer be a woman?" "YESSS!" "can a composer have dreadlocks?" AHHHHHH I GOT SO HAPPY. dreadlove in my heart. so today, during the first concert, he asked that question to these young students in the audience (4th graders) he went off on another rant, and right as he was about to exit the stage one of his dreads FELL TO THE FLOOR. just plopped. the kids started laughing and when i realized what happened i did too. it was so absurd to witness that on stage.
after the show i saw him with akim funk buddha (his throatsinging, pop-and-lock-ing, rapping, breakdancing, beatboxing friend who performed his piece) and he told me that the night before he was talking to his friend and said "man, there's this dread that i know is gonna fall out" ... poof. it did. hah. i showed him the dreadlock of mine that i had in my backpack. he asked to borrow it but we both forgot about it by the time he left. akim funk buddha hung it from his hat
