Newbie... and friends [11 May 2005|04:33pm]

I'm posting here because I just got my hair dreaded and I'm so happy about it! This, above, is me. Also including some recent pics of two very important people in my life, whose beautifull dreads inspired me to make the big step...

how old do you think your dreads need to be before
you use them to tie back the rest of your hair?

I seem to be having one of those days where my hair feels amazing, so, well... pictures.

Sorry if you're bored of seeing me :-P

Whilst I'm here, two dread related things I was going to post about over the last week or two but never did.

When I was in London last weekend, in walking up Camden high street in fact, I heard someone behind me shouting "Hey rastafari! rastafari!" after a few seconds I realised this was aimed at me and turned around, this girl with (very short) dreads and a cap was following me, she said something along the lines of "knappy hair man, touch my fist!" so I did, and then she wandered off and started dancing in front of two bemused policemen. Excellent!

Aaand earlier this week after an evening in the pub with greeneyedgeisha (whose hair I get to dread next week!!!!) I received a nice double dose of dread related abuse! More amusing than anything due to the effort that clearly went into it, some morons in some rusty car drove past me and shouted some things about Slipknot or something, and then later that night when I refused to buy some chavs some cigarettes I got heckled with "Urgh, what the fuck are you? white man with dreads? what?!" or something, charming folk around here!

I hope you're all enjoying the month of May.
