just another one of those cuiosity/getting to know ppl posts

Ok periodically everyone does these one question posts on here where its thought to get to knwo eachother better and such....i dunno...get into the minds of dread heads? Well I decided I was REALLY curious about this.

Where did everyone get his/her user name from? A lot of ppl ask me about mine on here, adn it jsut occured to me. Your s/n is a pretty good relfection of your personality, even if it is some bullshit name.

So what is the orgin of your s/n?
(and if this like, totally out of bounds, mods, just holla and ill retreat. however, id like to know where ya'll's came from too!)

goingtomontreal? Well a lot of people think its from a strong desire/plans to travel to Montreal. In reality (while I would like to go there) my s/n comes from an Ataxia song "Montreal" where John Frusciante, the singer, says the like "Im going to Montreal" over and over. I picked this s/n b/c I needed a change and it was a depserate and lonely night and i felt like i had to run away, so I jsut kept thinking "I'm going away, I'm goign to Montreal"

Actaully, most of my past (and other) user names came from songs. on_with_stella and eskimo_found are both from RHCP lyrics. and kimono_as_belle is after my fav My Little Pony.

All right, wasn't that insightful? Now spill yours!! GO!

(no subject)

I was at GameStop with my boyfriend the other day, chatting it up with the sales guys about Halo 2 and such, and two black men (no disrespect to anyone, I am NOT racist) walked into the store.

I had my dreads tied back, and I turned around to notice that these two guys were really close to me.

One said, "Aw, no shit...she's got dreads!" The other said, "Can I touch them?" And I said, "Sure!" So they touched them, then one told me they looked really nice. I said, "Thank you! I'm so jealous of you guys because you can just put them in and they're near perfect..."
They replied with "You shouldn't be jealous. Anyone can have 'em."

It just made me feel so good! Where I live, there aren't many dreadheads, in fact I'm the only one I know of in town, and usually, if I go somewhere, I usually get odd looks from everyone, including black men and women. But it just made my day.

Also, I spotted a white dread head at the laundromat last night while making a beer run. I wanted to go in and say "Hi!", but I had previous engagements so I couldn't.

And today at the grocery store, an older woman said to me, "I love your hair, honey." I said "Thank you!" and that was it.

I had to post all of this because like I said, I live in a small town and a small area, and usually such "outlandish" things like dreadlocks, piercings, ink, etc., usually gets a lot of stares. But the comments from the two black men in GameStop made me feel so good about my dreads.

Hope you are all well and your dreads are happy, like mine :D

r.i.p. three dreads, five minutes.

today was the day to start knotting me up, but it didn't work out.

i didn't realize that the layers in my hair would cause me to lose about eight inches during the knotting and therefore the three that we did were just big, stupid-looking puffballs. it was either the layers, or I just don't have thick enough hair. Or, possibly, the friend doing it could have done something differently.

i'm devastated! the only thing i can think of is to grow it out as much as I can and try again.

*tear* i started looking at beads and everything.
