Thanks to all of you...

Thanks to all of your wonderful responses, my friend isn't requesting that I cut my hair for her wedding anymore! I showed her everything you all wrote and she said she had no idea how meaninful people's dreads were to them. For some reason, she thought it was only me who valued my hair so much. (she obviously doesn't get out much...) She was really impressed by all your comments and now my hair is not even an issue. She said she feels bad for making such a big issue out of something as silly as hair, and now she can focus on more important things like... oh I don't know... the fact that SHE'S GETTING MARRIED.

Thanks to every single one of you!

Ups and DOwns.

so i just recently posted pics of all my tucked in loose hairs. i washed my hairs couple days later almost ALL the work i had done had undid itself. i had to take the rubberbands out and tuck all the hairs in again. So frustrating. i also keep having mixed feelings about my dreads. i told myself i want to have them as long as i can (at least through rest of college at this rate) but there times when i just want them gone. its hard to explain. but im feeling pretty good about them tonight. i found a new way to pull them back. since ive fixed them up and put some rubberbands on them im having a really hard time pulling them back into a pony tail or just even pulling the front/top part of my dreads back. so ive compromised and pulled them back into two little sections/ponytails.

So I spent the whole of last night reworking my dreads and they look a *million* times better. They now actually look like proper dreads!

Heh, quality IS better than quanity! :)

I'll post pictures when I can be arsed.

Does enchantment pour out of every door?

Right, so...my camera has been on me the past few days, which means I've been taking and posting a lot of pictures.
My dreads are looking a lot better...less like little bits of hair clumped together with wax. I'm pretty happy.

PS: as a bit of an open question of my curiousity, what do you do with your dreads when you sleep?

Alright, kids, I need your help. The more comments I can get, the better. It seems that my best friend, Ryan is just as misinformed about dreads as most of the rest of the sad public. We got into a discussion today, and I don't quite remember how it was started or all that was said, but basically he feels that the only way to get real dreads is to stop washing and combing your hair. Like, not wash it at all. He used to have long hair and he said that's what he would have done. He also thinks that just washing your hair, and not brushing it, wouldn't work b/c in the process of washing you would remove any knots. I tried explaining the concepts of dry, clean hair getting knotty, how oils wouldn't help knots, everything, but he doesn't get it. Finally I asked him if he thought my (backcombed) dreads were fake, and he said yes. His definition of dreads: Dirty, nasty, knotted up hair. Only. Not clean knotted hair, or knots achieved through backcombing, or any other method. I was very hurt, and insulted, but I thought it was funny at the same time. I also felt like I had failed somehow, in my duty to inform him. He's my closest friend, yet he doesn't even support me..if that makes sense.
ANYWAY (sorry, that was long) this is where you cats come in!! I need you help! Please comment and say what you can to teach and guide my poor friend. Once I get some comments, I"ll give him the link to this post, and then maybe America will be one person closer to accepting dreads. Thanks all.

I was going to wait until Saturday but I think it's pretty obvious who won the design contest.

Let's all thank ilikedrooling for her Bob Marley design! Second place goes to kawaiinose for the lovely design with the lock quote. They both get a free shirt with their logo on it. Much thanks to everyone else who submitted and voted! We love you!

Now for the fun part: We're working out the details but as of right now, you will get to pick between the top two designs when placing your orders. We'll let you know when you can begin ordering. Until then, be patient!

This year I have changed and grown a lot. One reason my dreads are really meaningful to me is I started growing them right when my life began to turn around for the better. And it's only gone uphill since :)
Thanks to the people who actually gave a shit about me and I am sorry to the ones who I never gave a chance to. I have added new walls and took some down, and for my benefit hopefully the right ones still stand.
