4 MONTHS! : )

Hello kiddies, i posted here about four months ago back when i first got my synth dreads put in - the good news are that most of my natural hair is now automatically growing into natural dreads, bad news are that some of them arnt as tight as my synth locks, there are a couple of ways i can use to tighten them up:

1. wax.

2. sewing.

3. knitting (with a crochet needle) - i tried it on a couple of dreads and it worked fine but didnt last very long..

so... help?

i dyed my hair todaaaaay.

i used Hennaplus Auburn, and it'll last for about 3 months. i wanted to go for Warm Red at first but i might do that one next time. it was a bit *too* bright..

oh yeah, my sister did all the dying dillio & sorta messed up near the roots. after i rinsed out everything i noticed i had partly undyed tips, which were also kinda spotted (i like to call them my leopard spots :D), but i used a leftover hennadye (Hazelnut) in an attempt to cover them up. it didn't really work out though. next time i'll make sure to use at least 2 tubes, my locks were far too thick for just 1 tube :/
anyway.

dread extensions.

i really want to do them, i'm tired of my short locks. but i have no idea where to even start.

where do i get human hair to make the extensions?

how do i then turn it into dreads? (it doesn't seem like you could do it the same and regular locks, because there's no attachment point from which to pull...)

how do i attach them? (i found this link, but i tried it once before and it didn't work well at all. maybe i did something wrong.)

ahhhh i am just so in love with long locks, and carly really inspired me to do something about it. and i know i can do it myself, since she did. but i have no idea where to begin!

or, do any of you amsterdam people have any experience in this? and could maybe help me out if i came up there some weekend?

also, because no one likes text only, here is a picture that someone took back home. i wish i could have been there and met that guy... what awesome locks.

I've been thinking of cutting of my dreads all week. I've had dreads for almost two whole years and before that I had tangled curly half-dreaded street urchin hair and I'm terrified that I won't recognize myself without them. I guess I'm just thinking outloud here but any advice/past experience stories would be helpful.

Reasons to cut off my dreads:

1) I miss hair
2) my head hurts from having such heavy dreads (they are thin but many in number) and I don't like how they look down so I wear them up alot, which just hurts more.
3) I don't feel as though I look like I feel. If that makes any sense. And the only thing I can change about my face is my hair.

Reasons not to cut off my dreads:

1) they are pretty tight, so I will have very very very short hair. Which will give me a pretty tough punkish look which might make it hard to get jobs (harder then with dreads because I could just put them up in a proper looking bun and no one would blink)
2) what if I regret it!? I will look even less like I feel and I won't be able to fix it for MONTHS!!
3) I have very curly hair, so if I have short hair it is going to be curly and insane.
