The frizzies are in overdrive, but I've learned to cope with that and we live in harmony now. I've got several congos growing, as well as some natural dreadies. I think this is the first time I've been truly happy with my dreads. I only touch them to rip them now.
I'm moving to London on Sunday, and there's the Brick Lane Festival on the very same day!!!
I am now....DREADLESS!! And I couldn't be happier. Something about moving west and the rainforest humidity and warmer tempetures just made my dreads feel too heavy and hot. I felt the sun and wind on my head for the first time in years. And I'm having endless amounts of fun shocking people will my new look.
love to all dreadies, I'm going to miss being grinned at in the street by cute dreaded girls but for now, the shaved head thing feels right.
I just found this community so I thought I'd post and say hey :)
I've had dreads for over a year now, but have been wearing extentions for at least 4 years. My own dreads look kind of sparse (I'm used to having a huge head of fake dreads haha) so I made some falsies to thicken up my natural ones...
I'm new to this community, so this is my first post.
I don't have dreads yet, because I'm not sure how long my hair needs to be for them to work. On the FAQ it said that 3-4in or 6-8 would be fine, but how much does your hair shorten when you first get them? I'm worried that it'll look horrible if I do it at the length my hair is at now (I have a paranoia of my hair sticking straight up) because I don't really have a girly face so I'd probably look like a guy.
Anyway, I'm posting a (somewhat) recent pic of myself so you all can see my hair length.
so my dreads are roughly three and a half months old and last week, all of a sudden i woke up one morning and POOF! they looked a trillion times better than they used to. obviously, i had to take pictures.
