Dance out of the lines

Concert Dreads

I have had an amazing week filled with music. Charlottesviile has gone absolutely insane with fantastic concerts and so I am now extremely broke but very happy :) and have of course been clicking away with my newly repaired camera. I managed to get myself and thus my dreads in a few pics.

Got to meet Arlo Guthrie. The man is funny as hell! :)

They are a month and a half now. I really love em to pieces. They jump around with me when I dance and just feel so right.

ps.
these pics all link to huge high resolution ones for those who care. oh, or acually, just the Dar and Ty pics. The Arlo pic is only 640 by 480 or so.

so, a few weeks ago i had a terrible moment of self-doubt and angst, which prompted me to shave off all of my (noticeable) body hair except my eyebrows and cut the hair on my head pretty short.
it was looking really awesome and dready and i was really happy with it. this is what it looked like after a summer of non-brushing and dr. bronner's washing plus a week of beachgoing:

anyway, last night i had this crazy dream that my hair was all sorts of awesome colors and i was trying to tease it up (which i wouldn't usually do), and all of a sudden the backcombing made it turn into the most perfect dreads ever and i woke up depressed. i'm going to wait until my hair gets longer, and do this for real.

I need some advice

My dreads are only 2 weeks old and every time I go to bed they wake up a mess, the tips frayed and all. And I have to spend 1/2 hour palm rolling them back to life and separating them.

It seems that nothing I do keeps this from happening. I've tried wearing a beanie, or a hat that holds my locks, or nothing at all and I get the same result?

Any ideas?

crocheting

Hello fellow lovely knotty people!

I have a question regarding using crochet needle/hook on dreadlocks.Even though i have had my dreads for 8 months, they don't seem to tighten up well enough to satisfy me so i figured out that i would give the crochteing method a chance and bought a crochet hook (the tiniest one available) the other day. howevee i can not figure out how to use the little bugger through the dreads.
can anyone explain it in details or does anyone have any instructions for it with photos ?

may you all have a lightful today

Delacet questions

I just got a bottle of delacet in the mail and can't wait to use it. Anyone have any tips for me or can answer these questions?

Did you save any to use as a repellent as the directions mention?

How did you go about covering all your hair with this stuff? (It seriously has the viscosity of soy sauce and the bottle is only 110 mL ~ 3.7 fluid ounces. Not quite what I was expecting.)

Also, I'd like to purchase some tea tree oil to use as a repellent. Does anyone know what kinds of places sell tea tree oil in the United States?
