i've always had horrible dandruff. some might remember that when i cut off my first set, i had a kind of...helmet of it on my scalp. within the last 4-4 weeks, i've stopped washing my hair.

all of a sudden i have NO dandruff, and my scalp feels oh-so-fresh.

newbie <3 [04 Dec 2005|07:47pm]
Hey everyone!

I just joined so I thought I'd introduce myself and ask a few questions.

My name is Austin I'm 19 in January, I have no dreads yet... but I'm starting them this week, hopefully.

I am planning to use the braid/backcombing method.

I just have a few questions for the more experienced of this comunity

1) What exactly is the process of palm-rolling? How do you do it and what does it do? Is it nessicary?

2) Wax? Need it or not?

3) Washing... Shampoo? No shampoo? I have NO clue about this one!

Any other advise would be awesome too.

Peyote [04 Dec 2005|09:58pm]
I've been making these little pieces lately, and I thought I would put them out there and see if anyone was interested. Below are samples, and the colors I currently have for you to choose from. Keep in mind that the iridescent gray, the light green, and the light blue, are 8/0, while the rest are 11/0, so they can't be combined. The mixed beads can be used with either, and they come in black, white, yellow, orange, green, dark blue, light blue, and red. I'm asking $5 for one plus an additional $1 for shipping inside the US, and $2 for outside (They will be shipped in tissue to prevent damage). If you're interested or have questions e-mail me at Amandiar(at)gmail.com or leave a comment. Let me know the colors and pattern (Diamonds? Stripes? Spiral?), and length you want, and the diameter of the dread you're thinking of, or an average size. Keep in mind that if you have small dreads your pattern options will be a bit limited.

I hope I'm not imposing, if so, let me know!

On an unrelated note, I was just informed today that my boss won't give me shifts over winter break, because of my hair. I was sad but told her I'd rather give up my job. My mother is going to kill me when she finds out.

ONE YEAR OLD! [04 Dec 2005|10:32pm]
I made it to the one year mark, yay! I'm happy with how they've turned out, I might do a few thing differently if I did it again, but these are staying on my head for a looooong time to come.

Here are some pictures of their progress.

Removal :( [04 Dec 2005|11:19pm]
i started to un-due my dreads today.
took about 30 mins to do one dread... it was the last dread i got done, and the first one to go! poor ddreadie, ill miss him..

anyways my hair feels so wierd right now, yet so SOFT.

I'm only removing half my dreads (top half) in case your wondering why its ebcause they are so THICK and are so heavy! i'd love them if they were thin(like the first ones i got done)

anyways, thank you everyone who gave me tips on the removal!
ill post some pictures later
