I had to do a self portrait for my final in Drawing, and this is what came out. I'm really not done with it (values need a lot of work), but it was acceptable for my prof. I thought you all might appreciate it.

And then of course I have more pics, most of which are of large size, sorry about that. Because we all love taking pictures of ourselves, and seeing pictures of others.

...Okay, I'm done talking now.

alright, I know the general feeling toward dread perms is pretty negative in this community, but I work at a law firm that won't allow me the time it takes to get backcombed dreads "nice looking" so I have a few questions about dread perms...

can I use one to initially get dreads, and then maintain them with the techniques used for backcombed dreads, or is there different maintenance involved?

So, the past couple weeks I've began that period that you all speak of where I hate my dreads and have fantasies of chopping my hair off real short and dying it green.

I know I don't really want to cut them, though. So I'll wait it out.
The funny thing is that, to other people, they probably look exactly the same as they did a month, or two months ago.

heeeeey,
so here's the deal. i just joined because i just got dreads. haha.
i've had them for about two weeks.
i started with three, and the next night decided to just go for it. so i stayed up that night doing my whole head. i'm pretty proud i did them all myself.

Dready pictures

I just dyed my hair a deep plum colour, and I was trying to get some photos of it but you cant see the colour accurately in the pictures.

But they're decent photos of my dreads anyway...so I'll post a few since I haven't posted in ages.

My dreads are 2 1/2 years old now.

Sewing em

So I've made the leap and decided to sew my dreadlocks. More specifically, I want to crochet the tips into the dreadlocks, and sew all through that so they stay and don't slip out again. I've done a couple and they seem to be doing alright, but I'd like to hear any advice people have on sewing. (I've been through the memories and it's pretty vague).

Do you tie a knot when you're done? How do you keep the thread from coming out of the dread? Is there a best pattern for sewing? Is it better to loop the thread around the dreadlocks, and through a few times, or just through the dreadlock the entire time? Has anyone had bad results from sewing? Does the visibility of thread diminish over time? Would you like to openly swear at me for "cheating" by sewing my dreads?

Any thoughts are much appreciated.

So...in an attempt to like my hair better today, I tried Collapse ) it...

It turned out too dark. It was supposed to be brown, but it really looks black. And I definitely don't think black suits me. It doesn't necessarily look bad, but it does not go with my personality, I feel. Anywho, I think I'll get another brown tomorrow and try again in a few days.
