padewan dread

I now have a dread that is 19 inches long dude to the fact that a friend of mine trimmed soem of my dreads in the back and there was enough extra pieces to matte into a sweet extra long lock. I like having the long lock becuase I can use it to hold the rest of my hair back, plus I can swing it around and stuff like that...

long time no post

I got dreads in the summer of 2003, cut them off in the fall of 2005. It was an awesome two years and lately I've been missing them so much! None of my friends care about me missing my babies and I know how this community was always so supportive and nice and awesome!

I miss them so! But I guess my hair's okay now, I'd never had it short before the dreads so it was weird. I can't wait for it to grow out long again, maybe I'll redread one day.

Start...Stop...Start...Stop...

Hi, I'm Jamus, my dreads are about a week and a half old, and at first I was using bands and wax, and I decided to give all that up. It's a lot more fun to get them started myself and let them take form all by their own will. I'm taking my time with this. I make 7 or 8 dreads at a time, play with them a little bit, and then just let them do their own thinig. It's fun, I'm starting to get questions from my friends and people at work. I had someone tell me yesterday that they didn't like my hair. It's one of those things where I'm really realizing that I'm doing this for me and nobody else ^__^. Anybody else had those kind of experiences with individuals with a slender perspective?

Head/wraps/bands...

I'm in the process of sorting through the emails that people sent regarding the volunteers, so you should be getting a reply soon :o)

Also I've just added to my website some head wrap and head band kits, where you can make your own accessories! If anyones interested they are here. And just out of interest would anyone benefit from a tam pattern...? I've just been thinking it over as a possibility.....

Take care

de-lurking for a minute...

so i've been in love with this community and your beautiful locks for awhile now, but secretly. i don't have dreads yet, so i guess that's why i've been quiet...just thought i'd say hi, i might comment from time to time...but mostly i'll just silently soak up all of your dready goodness and gain inspiration for my own locks!

My Hair Timeline

Ahh.. My hair..
I decided to put yp a proper TIMELINE.

*sigh*

Why did you guys dread you'r hair?
I dreaded mine basically because I'm afraid of getting bald!
Hehe ^^ You see, I have this theory, when you cut you'r hair you get obsessed, and then you cut, cut, cut and cut and then suddenly you find yourself BALD wondering what the hell you shall do now ^^

so my hair is really really REALLY damaged. in the past couple of years i've stripped it at least 4 times and i've bleached it more times than i can remember. so this leads to my hair breaking off at the end a lot. now that i have dreads, the ends just kinda... break off and i'm left with little tuffs of hair all over the place when i work on my ends. i'm kind of worried about my dreads unraveling or getting shorter from all the breakage. i don't know if i should trim them, wax them, use conditioner or a hot oil treatment on the ends, or just keep working on them and hope they eventually stop breaking off. if anyone has any advice it would be very much appreciated :)

Hey all, I'm new here... I've had dreads for about a month now and they seem to be taking pretty well. I tried dreadlocks last summer, but they wouldn't come together, so I got frustrated and ended up combing them out after two months. This time I seem to be having a bit more success, probably for various reasons.

I love what I've seen/read from this community so far, and look forward to being here!

Also, I'm thinking of sewing a few smaller beads into my dreads in the next few weeks- can anyone give me any pointers on that? For example, should I use sewing thread, thin wire, fishing line...?
Any advice would be much appreciated!

Cheers :)
