I Love My Dreads

My dreads are far from perfect. Some have rounded off tips, while others are just loose ends, unravelling and tightening as they see fit. Some little chunks even refuse to dread no matter how hard I try. Much like me, they have curves and bumps - and when people ask why I don't just fix the lumps I ask why would I want to. There are tiny ones, small ones and one huge one that lurks in the back. Sometimes they try to make love with each other and I catch them entwined only to separate them and deny that they should become one. They might be allowed to play together, but my locks are meant to be loved, not to be lovers.

It's funny how my dreads seem to follow the events going on in my life on a constant basis. Even their texture matches my personality. Some of them are wimpy and soft. No matter how much rolling and tearing I give them, they stay soft and cuddly. It's like they want to just curl up in my hand all day to be happy. Others are starting to get rock hard in random spots. They're conforming to what I want them to do, how round they should be, how neat they should be. Much like myself, they're a combination of cuddly love and jaded memories, and attempted organization amongst chaos. Sometimes people don't understand how I can be so involved in my hair, but my dreads are like a walking diary. They remind me of the things I've been through since they formed 6 months ago, whether it was the 3 surgeries i had in the summer, when they were neglected after a car accident, the way my one prof gets so excited when I wear "dreadtails", or the way it feels when my boy pets them. They aren't just part of a hair style. They're part of who I am inside and out, perfect and flawed.

Decided to combine some of my dreads since a couple of them seem like they'd be better off that way. I read the entry in the memories but I have one question..exactly what do you mean by "sew them together"? I've been on a ditz streak so the answer is probably so ovious but i cannot think of it right now..sory

i have naturally red hair, but now i have black hair & i want to bleach some of my hair, should i use hair bleach a few times? everytime i bleach my hair it turns orange, maybe i should do it a lot more? or hair colour removal? if i use hair colour removal will it make my hair the whitish/blondish, colour? because that's the colour i'm looking for!

thanks in advance.

p.s. there's been really amazing dreadhead pictures lately!
