earth first!

(no subject)

my babies have been alive almost a week. my friend and comrade, antischiz_liz separated my 5 inch long hair on sunday and i've been backcombing and palm rolling ever since. but i have to have a bath and wash my head. it's driving my crazy and the tea tree isn't helping enough. i sprayed them down yesterday with salt water and lemon juice mix and it seemed to help them but i'm terrified of putting my whole head in a bath of water. even though logic tells me that they're knotting up lovely and getting them wet won't unravel them, logic has never been able to overcome fear. please reassure me that i *can* have a bath and they'll be okay.... (unless of course they won't be, at which case, tell me that hehe.)

i think my hair was made for dreads. it knotted up really easy and (i think) really well. what a journey i'm on!!!

thanks for any advice you have.

peace, love & anarchy

(edited to add: ps, i haven't used any chemicals in a couple of years, my hair gets washed with dr. bronners, and it's used to not being washed but once a week. i have terrible dandruff, though, hence the really itchy scalp! only washing it helps.)

I am bored...therefore I propose a pseudo contest, wherein the participants measure the circumference of their largest dread. You should post the size in centimetres and inches (for our American friends) as well as a picture. This is just for fun. My largest dread has a circumference of 9cm or 3.5 inches. So much untapped potential in measuring tape games...sigh.

Well...I did it. I've coloured my hair. RED! And man...it's red indeed!

This is in TL light.

I have to confess that none of them broke and they even look better than before. She bleached them with a strong bleach and they kept up with that. Now there is still some black coming trough but it gives a nice effect. Haha and in daylight...man...that's RED!

A lot of photos.

Ok, my dreads are pushing on three months - young I know, but I'm very excited to start on this journey!
No wax is touching these babes - Like you wouldn't be able to tell on your own, ha ha. They're pretty wild. However, time will take care of that. I like them like that anyway.
If you care to take a look here they are, let me know what you think. Comments and suggestions are very appreciated.
Peace and Love -

p.s. I went to see John Brown's Body and Slightly Stoopid at a show the other night. I don't know if anyone knows J.B's.B., but one of the singers has amazing dreads - I tried to snap some photos though they only show a bit.

I hate to tell you this but you have a camera instead of a face.

i'm ecstatic, and so proud of these new fuzzy silly worms on my head. Nothing has touched them but my fingers and some beads, much to the disappointment of my wax-mongering friends. I'm not sure If I'm going to finish the front or leave myself some regular hair. I'm defenitely leaving my bangs, and i'm pretty sure i'll always leave the tips un-knotted too. It's becoming a huge pain in the ass to wash my regular hair and not the rest.

has anyone ever washed your head with kirk's castille? you like? i need to find a good soap.
