new to the community. my dreads turned a year old this month.
i'd been wearing synth dreads for years, and it seems one day my hair just decided to go with it, and started dreading on it's own. no wax, no rubberbands, the dreads happened with zero effort on my part.
they've been buried under dread extensions the whole time they were maturing, but last week i decided to ditch the extensions.
i'm really happy with the way they're coming along.
i have not yet posted pictures of my new babies! they are 3 months old. i am very proud of myself. i have yet to hate them or want to cut them off or comb them out! i love them so much my friend jayna took these pictures of me. they dont show how good they feel and look in real life though. and keep in mind i dont have THAT many dreads due to my undercut growing in. so here we go!!!
people are complaining that my head stinks. well, my mother actually. (she has the senseof smell of a dog, i swear!) however, she says its not the actual dreads that smell, but the scalp and bits near the scalp. i've looked in the memories for ideas about what to do, and foudn references to a baking soda rinse, but no one said how to actually do it - do i just tip some baking soda over my head, what? if anyone knows how to mix this stuff up, , or where the link for it is, or has other ideas on how to stop the stench - show me the way to go.
now that im dreadless im thinking i wont be needing my notty boy (mature) dread conditioner. I only say mature just cuz i dont think it would do nooby dreads much good...aka 'conditioner'. Its awesome on dreads over about a year, (makesem nice and soft-and its coconutty!), and i have about half a bottle left.
so, anybody want it??
:D i guess this is silly to say, but today i noticed how much colder life will be without my dreadies to insulate me. *le sigh!*
