Making sure I'm doing the right things...

After my first post (the typical kind with many questions - thanks for the patient and nice replies!) I decided that I wanted natural dreads. First, I dyed my hair back to my natural colour (or a very similar one). Two days ago, I stopped combing my hair.

My plan is to wash my hair every ten days (good idea?) with a herbal shampoo (should leave no residue, it's supposed to be natural etc.). I could swim in the sea every day, but then I would have to wash my hair very often which would slow down the dreading process, I guess. What do you think?

Here is a photo of me just in case there's something terribly wrong or wonderfully right about my hair :P

I'd really appreciate any suggestions you might have - I know no people with dreads and I'm a bit scared that I might do something that would really slow down the making of the dreads.

so how do you know when your hair has mold/mildew or if its just some shampoo build up?
i could take some picture in a few minuets if you want to what mine look like;
but anyway... ive been trying to get a peace braid of mine into a dread in the back of my head
and about half of it came out (i pulled hard...) and there was some white stuff in the middle of it, near where
it woulve been attached to my hair, also some of my dreads seem hard (i thought they were just tight...i could be wrong)
so...does anyone have any pictures i could compare mine too?

they're 2 years ld tommorow, i dont know if i want to loose them just yet :(

So, i have been stalking the hell out of this community for quite some time now, and i think it's time i took the plunge and dreaded my hair, after a year of saying it.

i've looked over the memories but still have some questions.
i was wonder if i should wash my hair (not conditioned), or leave it dirty so it locks up better

and if there was any shampoo that i could buy that would dehydrate my hair when i washed it so it didnt look so dirty during the first few months of having my dreadies. Someone mentioned Burt's Bees baby Shampoo in the memories and wondering if anyone else has used it.

thannnnnnk you.

I'm very very sorry I didn't put my huge pics behind a lj-cut! I was away after I posted the pictures for 5 days or so.

So I appoligize.

And thank you all for the nice comments you gave me on that post. :)
