beyond the looking glass [18 Sep 2006|01:23am]
[ mood | cheerful ]

It hasn't been too long since I last posted, but I had a bunch of pictures taken this past week when I was visiting my best friend and dreadie sista, floatingscarlet, in Brooklyn so I had to post again. I'm the redhead (haha, with the brown roots) in these pictures and floatingscarlet is the brunette. Enjoy!

I promise that after this post I'll either stop for a while or post some pictures that actually have my dreads in them =P

I've been meaning to share this guy with you all for a long time. Any of you who've been to Falcon Ridge may know him as the sweet potato french fries guy from years past. I didn't see him this summer, but these pictures are 2-3 years old.

He's totally badass.

so i've had these dreads for about.. 3 months now?
and although they look amazing (especially for such a short time)..

i don't think dreads suit me. not with the way i dress or act or think.
so. what is the best way to get them out ?
do i try brushing or washing them a lot ?
i really wouldn't like the cut them or shave my head just yet.
since they are not that old yet.

new dreads [18 Sep 2006|07:29pm]
after years of wanting them, I've finally gotten dreads. They're not completely finished, but my friend who was doing them had to go be a nude model so hes going to finish them later. But right now, here are some pictures of the incomplete set

Anyone willing to dread someone who lives in Tampa, FL? I don't remember anyone saying they lived nearby, but I think Lishd said something about traveling to Florida, no?
Anyway, my hair is about shoulder length, pretty thick, slightly wavey, and already fairly nappy. I was going to wait until around christmas time to let my hair grow s'more but I don't think it'll matter. My hair will grow, dreaded or not.

Leave me comments so we can discuss price, pretty please.

this may be the stupidest question ever, but im dreading up just as soon as i grow my layers out a little more and i was just wondering if its a really bad idea to start my dreads after a day of washing, with product in it. I have curly hair, and i tried dreading a few strands of my hair before and found that its alot easier when my hair has product in it than when it doesnt. the only thing im worried about when dreading up is mold and lice in the dreads, which i reeeaaly dont want. im not thinking of keeping them for years either, maybe a few months to 3/4 of a year. we'll see. but for now, i just wanted to know if dreading my hair with product will cause it to explode with gross mold or not!
thanks so much in advance :):)

Hello! [18 Sep 2006|10:46pm]
Hey everyone.
I've been lurking for a VERY long time, but will hopefully be starting dreads in the next couple of weeks, at which point pictures will commence.

A couple of random questions:

1--> My hair is currently dyed brown, and lish's tutorial says that dreads shouldn't be dyed until they're tight enough to be washed rather vigorously. Should I go back to my natural color before I dread up so I don't end up with multiple-coloured hair?

2--> Stop washing before I start? Yes/no?

One would think that I should know these things, but alas.

tams [18 Sep 2006|11:02pm]
i'm looking for a good tam but i can't find any place selling them. i have problems with the straight hemp tams (like on dreadheadhq) seeing as how they tend to stretch very quickly.

if any one knows a good website that sells items that aren't crappy i'd really appreciate it.

help me out please.
