(no subject)

Today I brushed/fingered out (fingering is my new method of taking out dreads... probably been used before but sometimes I find it easier to unknot them with my fingers) three thin dreads that I had braided about a few months ago because they were falling out at the bottom and I just wanted it to be one whole dread.

When I combed through it as it got more and more unknotted.. there was LOTS of white stuff stuck to the hairs on the comb. I mean like a LOT, but I couldn't even see any in my hair.

Is it something to do with the braided dreads, or are my dreads just full of flaked/scratched off skin? Just curious..
Either is cool with me.

De-lurk and a question

Hello all, i've had my dreads about 4 months now and recently cut them quite short.
The problem is my school just told me today that i have to dye my hair a more natural colour (its currently a pinky purply red colour that i love) but the tips are quite loose from cutting it and i'm worried that they wont survive the rinsing when i do dye it. Is there anything i can do to help them live?
