help my brain

this is sorta random, and text-only, but...did someone in this community recently say she/he bought a glass bead at a head shop called Jabberwock in Ithaca NY? i ask because i just did that very thing. on a wandering daytrip yesterday my girl and i went to Cornell uni, then discovered the Commons, a happy gathering of semi-crunchy establishments, and suddenly, some nebulous memory swirling in my head, i stood still and said, Jabberwock!? so in we went. my new bead is wavy shades of blue, and one day when i have a pic i'll post it. (also, i dig Ithaca.) peaceful season to you all. <3

dye job

Ok so thats roughly what my dreads were like before and it was either cut them off or dye them, i opted for the dye, I just need a change. Some silly photos of the process. Enjoy.

WARNING LOTS OF LARGE PICTURES.

hi. i have been lurking around this community for a few weeks now and have finally gathered the courage to post. as a lifelong fan of dreads, and finally moving away from mothers wrong assumption they are "dirty" i have spent several months growing my hair waiting for it to be "long enough" this week i would like to commence dreading. i just have a few questions first
i stopped brushing my hair over a year ago, and have yet to encounter any natural dreading at all, does this mean it will be more difficult for it to hold dreads? i would like to use the backcombing method [one of my good friends recently made herself a set of synthetic dreads and has offered to help me with my real ones] and from what i have read, it's generally good to stay away from wax? [which sounds good ot me i hate putting goo in my hair]. I guess I am just wondering if anyone has any tips for starting out with relatively short somewhat layered hair which I may have missed when reading the memories?

ps I also think you are all amazing :)

thanks and happy holidays
