Mostly a little rant, kind of a question.
Okay, so for pretty much the first time I've been getting a lot of interest in my hair. I'm not really sure why this is, and why it's happening now, but in the past few weeks a bunch of people have asked me how exactly my hair turned out the way it did and have been expressing an interest in dreading their hair themselves. Obviously very few of the people I'm talking to are willing to do the natural dreads thing, which is understandable, but I get kind of irritated when people don't listen to my opinions on dreading hair in general. Clearly I don't know that much about backcombing/rip and twist, whatever... but I know enough to be able to offer reasonable advice, and it annoys me when people ask me questions and then act like I don't know what I'm talking about. Haha, my hair is pretty matted. C'mon now.
So what do you guys say when people ask you about starting dreads? Generally I say that there are a lot of products out there on the market, but for the most part it's easier to just by-pass all of that (do them yourself, skip the wax, bands, and special shampoos) since they'll turn out fine. I feel like people don't really listen to me or take my advice seriously because they don't want dreads like mine (which I think is awesome, I like mine, and I like how unique they are).
