and ok, I'm not going to lie, this post isnt completely dreadcentric and this is the only place that some of you might appreciate this.

I just found out that I'm going to be driving in a very packed car with Pat the Bunny (of johnny hobo and the freight trains).

I'm totally effing excited

I'm sorry that this is only a text post, I wish I had some lovely dready pictures to share with you all, but I've yet to start my own. Mods feel free to remove this, if you feel the need too.

It's the long Easter weekend, everything is closed, and I have nothing to do with myself since I don't spend most of the weekend at church events like other do... so it gives me a lot of spare time to think. So thats what I'm doing.

I wonder... what it is... that makes dreadlocks so damn appealing. I have been fascinated with dreadlocks for many years, and wanted to have my own when I was 14, but due to my mothers massive aversion to "looking like a greasy dirty birds nest", I decided to stay an admirer until I was ready to have my own. I'm almost 21 now, and I'm growing out my short hair to start my own lovely locks and when I tell people, they say "WHY?! Your hair is already so beautiful!?". So I asked myself.. why? And I can't really give myself an answer. Because to me they represent freedom? And discipline? Finding beauty in something not so obvious? A journey? Like watching a child grow? Because I just like them. I do.

Why do you love your dreads? And for those of you like me, who don't have their own yet, why do you love them so much you want your own?

Hello ^__^

I'm new here.
I'll introduce myself:P

(thought it would be fun to post a picture of me with it :P)
I'm Kim, 15 years old, I come from Putten, a small town in the Netherlands.
I only have one little dread, because i just wanted to try it myself once, but it didn't work out realy well.
There are pictures behind the cut of my home made dread :P
Maybe you could give me some tips to turn it into a real dread? :P
Because more backcombing and palmrolling doesn't work :S

A bit of an odd one...

I had a look through the memories, but there didn't seem to be anything there.

Does anyone know anything about the relation between hormones and hair texture? Let me explain the problem...

I use the contraceptive pill, have done for years. I've been having a bit of a break from it for a couple of months, which is a fairly sensible thing to do every now and again. Since I've not been taking it, however, my dreads have been becoming significantly looser. I have loose hair between my dreads, as well as around my hair line. I have really straight hair so loose hair is often an issue anyway, but this is getting silly...! It feels very soft, and it's difficult to get it knotty when I try to make little dread balls with the loose hair. I'm still using the same shampoo, and aside from palmrolling, I don't do anything else to them. They're almost 2.5 years old, I love them, but all this loose hair makes them look a mess (even more than usual!).

Just so it's not text-only
