My girlfriends and I played dress-up a couple of weekends ago. It was pretty fantastic. We dressed each other in our favorite outfits and ran around my friend's house taking cute pictures. And my dreads looked good, and now they look not-so-good, so I will share :D
(they're 3 months or so)

The end :D

2 years and a little picture heavy

So Hello to any old faces (I haven't been on here in a very long time) and hello to any new.
I've had my dreadlocks for almost two years and I thought I would give you guys a glimpse.
I'm starting to get those glimmering lustings for hair, real hair... and am considering chopping once I hit two years (which will be in November). Any thoughts on that would be appreciated - have you cut and regretted? Anyway, on to the photos.

i've started and had dreads three times, the longest being four months. i really want to start a nice set to really commit to keeping for awhile, but wanted to recruit some help this time. if anyone would be interested in meeting up in the nyc area to help me make them (via backcombing my relatively curly hair, at shoulder length) I can pay you in japanese food and paintings (some art here: or dinner and booze. whatever you're into. it would take place the last weekend in sept or after; whenever you're free. reply here or email

First, I apologize for my last post, to anyone that saw it. It was one of those things that in your head sounds fine but printed/out loud it sounds whack. So I'm sorry about that. Also, my post is not meant to be accusing, sarcastic, or derogatory in any way.

Basically, I'm just curious as to why dreads are such a big deal. I've read all the 'why did you get dreads' memories, and that just confused me more. To me, it's just hair. It should look the way you want and what makes you happy, but it's not really something to get emotionally attached to. But I've read people naming their dreadlocks, referring to them as if they're living things, calling them 'commitments', etc. I have no problem with this, I'm only wondering why.

hey guys. so im thinking about getting dreads. i've been thinking about it for a long time now but i have 2 best friends with them who have had them for years and my drummer is growing his hawk out again to dread it. it would be kinda wierd but i decided its not a big deal and if i want them its worth hearing people telling me im doing it to copy them. cause i love them and i've been wanting them for at least 9 or 10 months.

i loveeee to change my hair. a lot. i dont really cut it much but i dye it a lot. everyone who i tell that i want dreads says "its a big commitment and you like to change your hair a lot" but i can still dye my hair after i get dreads. i recently got a mohawk but i think it'd look sweet as a dreadhawk. i know plenty of people who could do it for me. and im pretty sure it'd dread really well cause i've read that bleached hair dreads better and my hair has been bleached a lot. but i'm just worried im gonna look wierd. what do you guys think? should i dread my mohawk or not? and if i did, what color do you think would look best?
