connor oberst

we all love dreads... that is why we are members of this community.
i was wondering why other people love dreads?
i love them because of the natural feel. they always seem to go hand and hand with a more organic, natural way of looking at things.

(no subject)

hey everyone, I'm new here and my name is Anna and i don't have dreads. I'm very seriously considering getting them, i only had a couple of questions that i hoped that you could help me with.
1; i'm nervous about the permanence of them, if i get them and decide that they're not for me, do i really have to cut off my hair to get rid of them, is there a point of no return?
2; i want skinny dreads, are those harder to maintain? is that possible to have a lot of little dreads with really straight hair?

i know that these may be silly questions, but anything would help, i just have a few last reserves that i want to get rid of before i dive in.

thank you so much

Mah hairs! Let me show you them.

Hallo all you lovely people! I love seeing all your pictures, so I contribute with my messy head. Yay messyhead!!

My hairs are almost a year old. They were waist length when I first got them dreaded and now they are a little below shoulder! O.o;

Also, they are a lovely birds nest of wool and charms and beads and braids and bits. I even have a fairly large stone skull from Samhain this year, a piece of malachite and a couple bells in there. eep! And today they are scented with bpal's Pumpkin V and smell GLORIOUS! *sniffs self* yummmmmmmm.

my Good Faerie Ball costume

This was my costume for the Good Faerie Ball at FaerieCon this year. Whee!

Also, during the Qntal concert at the Bad Faeries Ball, there was a FABULOUS contact juggler with lovely dreads. And I got some pictures, yay!

Dreads Tomorrow!

Hey dreadheads! I'm new to the community and figured I should introduce myself. I'm Brittany, a 21 year old artist/hippy/crazy cat lady from Ontario, Canada, and I don't have dreadlocks. Yet.

I've been thinking about it for a very long time, but quite honestly, I haven't changed my hair style from when I was about 14. I've been wanting to dread my hair so bad that I bought one of those kits from DreadheadHQ, but it's been sitting on my dresser for a little while because I'm kind of terrified. My hair has been a sort of security blanket for me, one thing I always seem to get compliments on, and my mom dreads (har har) the idea of me 'ruining' it :P

My sister and I made a date tomorrow to do it though, so tonight's my last night with plain ol' normal hair... Unless of course I wimp out!

I've got a couple pictures of my hair now/recent, hopefully tomorrow I'll have some after photos too. I know you guys are biased, haha, but do you think I'll look okay with them? Any suggestions for when I get started? Warnings?

And how do you get your dreads nice and round at the end, rather than thin and pointy?
