I especially like the first few lines...
"I don't need a passport to walk on this earth, anywhere I go cuz' I was made of from this earth"
I just thought that some people in this community would appreciate a link to http://www.storyofstuff.com/
Its a cute little movie about where the things we buy come from and where they go when we get rid of them. I was pretty surprised by some of the information and hopefully a few people will have a look at it and be surprised as well. I think it fits nicely into the Christmas season, you know, consumerism and all that stuff.
And here's a picture so its kind of dread related:
1 year, 4 months (ish)
I also have a passion for children with illnesses and disorders, as my own son lives with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. I'm always looking for ways to help with causes that reach out to children.
I have a project that has been brewing in my mind for a little while now that would include lots of fellow dreadheads.
I want to put together a big altered book project with pictures of beautiful dreadheads and then want to auction the finished piece of art on Ebay through Mission Fish, which helps with Ebay listings where the proceeds benefit a charity.
EDITED: After finding out that Locks of Love sells some of the hair they receive to overseas commercial wig makers and charges the families they "help" for the wigs, I was NOT cool about that.
So.........after researching the Make-a-Wish Foundation, I'm looking to have this charity be the recipient of the donations.
I would love to gather us together to help with an awesome cause.
If you're interested in helping out with donating a picture of yourself with your beautiful dreadies to be included in this art piece, I would love to have you join with me in this cause!
I'm looking for full size pictures (not resized for the web) so that they can be printed out at the best quality. Because your photos will be included in a piece of artwork that will be sold on Ebay (full proceeds will go to Locks of Love), I'll email you a waiver that you can print out, sign and send back that allows permission for the use of your photo.
If you'd like to take part, you can email me at erikaerin @ gmail.com (minus the spaces, of course).
The deadline for emailing your picture file is January 31st and I'm planning to have the finished artwork completed and on Ebay by March 1st.
Let's band together for a great cause!
What kind of banners would YOU like to see? Is there a specific size you'd like them to be? Square, rectangular "long", rectangular "tall"? balamuthia created a few ideas here and here. Themes? Colors? Fonts?
All help and input is needed and appreciated :) Thanks everyone!
(P.S. Sorry if I sound like a spaz, I woke up with a horrible sore throat this morning and it is probably the cold medicine talking. Woohoo, winter!)
