Set number 2

So back in November (?) I think it was, the lovely Miss Christina of this community gave me my first set of dreads, and much to my dismay (and hers probably, I don't know) I grew impatient with them and combed them out after about three and a half weeks. Most of them had fallen out and the ones that hadn't were doing amazingly; unfortunately, instead of re-dreading the rest of my hair I decided to just get rid of it all. I chopped most of my hair off in December and loved it for a while, but then I kept paying attention to all of these get_up_dread_up posts with pretty pictures of wonderful dreadheads and I will totally admit, I caved and decided I NEEDED to have dreadlocks. So tonight, after trying a couple of dreads myself, I realized I should totally just finish my head and get it done with. I think this time around I put a lot of work into each dread and made sure I was comfortable and satisfied with how tight each one was...and I'm stoked. They are a lot better formed and separated than my first set and off to a good start and yeah here are some pictures...let me know what you think!

I've been meaning to post these for...well, quite awhile now. But I've been really lazy :)

These are the pictures of my dreads being started by lishd:

You can see the rest here: http://www.compunction.org/hair/jenny.html
I didn't want to hotlink them all, and besides, it's fun to go back to her hair page and look at everyone else's hair too :) She's awesomeee.

And here are two pictures I took about 2 minutes ago:

They are still slightly psychotic and completely un-tamable, but oh wellz. I. LOVE. THEM.
And it feels so great to be supported by (most) of my friends. When I showed them to my co-workers for the first time, who didn't know I was going to be doing this, some of them were surprised at first but everyone said they were cool and that they really liked them and thought they suited me, so that felt really nice. My friend Kyle won't stop molesting them every chance he gets :) One of my roommates is slightly frustrating, though; the first night she saw them, she said she was going to come and comb them out in my sleep. I said, fine, go for it, just don't be surprised if you wake up the morning after that and your entire head is shaved. I think she thinks its a phase, but whatever. I'm really happy with where I'm at right now, and that's all that really matters to me :)

I also have to say (while I'm just rambling on), that I'm just so glad this community is around for support. EVERY SINGLE DREADHEAD I SEE IN BERKELEY HAS FANTASTIC DREADS. I'm like, "Ummm....hey. Is anyone else starting out dreads like me?" I feel like the only one. So it's great to come here and see people from all stages, to just starting out, to four months, to four years, and beyond, all supporting each other. You guys are all great :)
