I can't remember exactly when I joined this community but it was a fair few months ago now. probably close to, if not, a year!

I'm not asking if you think I should get dreadlocks, because:
a) it's evident you're going to say yes under any condition
b) I already have my mind made up! I have since I was 10 years old!

I have always said that if I still want dreads after I've finished school, that I'll do it.
well, I have 9 months left of school and I am very much looking forward to it.

this post is purely to say hello, and introduce myself, with a couple of photos. I used to have really short hair and I've been growing it out ready for dreads.

so, hello! my name is Loren, and I live in NSW, Australia. I'm still in school, my best/favourite subject is Visual Art and I absolutely adore the ocean.

in the photos that I've posted, I tried to create a mini timeline. my hair was much shorter than any of these photographs suggest, but hey - the entire point of this was only to say hello so if you see me around, you can put me to a face and a name!

last night I had a weird dream where I cut off my dreadlocks for some reason, and I had this weird, straight, punked out haircut with lots of neon pink in it. Then I went to a hair salon to get someone to sew my old dreadlocks back on.

I think I'm frustrated at the shrinking I'm experiencing, but I'm more excited about how amazing it's going to be when I finally get the longer locks I want.

I'm a dread head.

Hi everyone.

I am Cody. I posted the other day and my dreads are finished now! YAY. I am so excited.

Mostly, I'm excited that I will never have to comb or straighten, and never worry too much about my head ever again. I have been dreaming of this day since I was like 10.

I was at the park one day with my family and there was a camp going on at the bottom of this hill. I saw this massive man with white dreads playing with some kids. I ran down to get a closer look because in my mind he looked like a foreign giant! I ran up to him, and I asked him. "Hey! Whats up with your hair?!?!" He turned to me and said, "These, oh, they are dreadlocks! Do you like them, or do you think they are strange." I said, "BOTH!" and then I ran away.

Ever since that day I have wanted to have some strange hair that I could love forever.

Now I do...

Thanks again for all the advice posted in this community. You guys are fucking rad.

Saying hello!

I haven't posted in quite a while, and I feel sorta bad for that I love this community. I just settled into Houston, TX. I was in Denver, CO. I was wondering if there was anyone else in Houston that wouldn't mind hanging out talking about dreads and maybe helping me work on some of the loose hairs I have scattered. I don't mind helping others on theirs, I just can't work on my own head. Poor dreadies are so loose at the roots, I would love the help and the company!

i made the plunge

my locks are a year old and i dyed them for the first time 2 days ago. despite the multiple times i had to do it as they were originally orange...i kind of like how they came out. I had to go back darker bc for some reason my hair would not go blonde.  i am just a bit concerned how they are managing being that i had to wash my hair four times in 24 hours.  they are soft and a lil loose.  they will tighten back up tho right? i kno this seems silly but i started to regret messing wit them as they were progressing like crazy prior to the dye jobs- as always thanks for the input...awful

Single Dreadlock

I have one dreadlock I just backcombed at the nape of my neck on the left side. his name is Dreadma. I haven't washed my hair since I created him two or three days ago. My plan is to just shampoo it as normal with the rest of my hair and do what I can to not get conditioner on it.

for you folks with only one or just a few with the rest of your hair brushed out, what do you do for shampooing/conditioning and other maintainance?

Hey dreadie friends!

I just created a new friend for the only dread i have called Puk, The new friend's called Edward!
I know, it's a bit childish to name ur dreads..
Puk will be 1 year old on the 7th of may this year (:
I only have one problem with the first dread..
I live in Holland and I'm not very familiar with all the terms u use for hair and stuff so i'll try to explain it with a self-drawn-thingie.
This is the situation!
