Hi.

My sister Billie dreaded her hair last night.

Laugh attack.

She didn't section her hair off, she just grabbed bunches of hair and backcombed. Did she do a good job? Any tips about anything? Thanks!

By the way, I love this community. I've always been infatuated with dreads. I'm planning on getting some someday, when my hair grows out. (I've had short hair for waayyy too long.)

noob part 2

About 6 weeks ago, I started dreadlocks on myself, and they pretty much sucked. I wasn't happy with them at all, and ended up combing them out 4 weeks ago. I made a post asking for help in my area, and Dawn (bobandiarepals) and I made plans for her to re-do them for me. I went over there yesterday, and she went to work on my hair. She worked from 3:30 to 9pm with a short break or 2 in there to relax.

I can definitely feel a difference, they're much shorter than when I did them myself, so I know she backcombed better than I did. My hair is HUGE!! I feel pretty ridiculous, but I know that the Mrs. Lovett look is just a stepping stone to awesome hair eventually. She also made me a hat! I'm pretty excited this time, hopefully I can just get through the awkward phase without attacking my head!

STICKER

2.5 months

It doesn't seem possible that I've had my dreadies for over 2 months. Seems like I've had them forever. ^_^

I had a question I wanted to ask you guys..Oh yeah.  I've heard some people say good things about the Knotty Boy shampoo and soap bars, but how do those items treat colored hair? I've used Burt's natural shampoo, sucked the blue right out of my hair, and it was even "color safe" which I never believe. Any other suggestions for bars or shampoos that are kind to colored hair? Thanks guys ^_^

Relation between thickness and length

Okay, so I'm seriously starting to miss my dreads. I had the above set of dreads from september 07 until early april, when I took them out.
I've managed to keep most of the length, and I want to have them redone soon with the help of dreadworx who are located quite close to me.
Hopefully going to have my next set quite a bit thinner than my old ones.

This will probably sound like a stupid question, but if the sections are smaller (and hence thinner dreads), will they appear longer than if the sections are larger? I would assume that thinner dreads grow in length more quickly than their fat counterparts, but a second opinion would be helpful.

Thanks everyone :) I joined today, and this has got to be the best dreadlock community I've been on! B
