anyone in the columbus ohio or even ohio area willing to help me with my dreads. i want to do them but i guess im too nervous to by myself and would prolly mess up the back if i did by myself. and then would help me with maitenence afterwards. i cant really pay much. but i could pay a little and a dinner and fun? or whatever idk. thank you.

oh i have mixed black and white people hair. its thick and curly and it gets frizzy easy. i dont know if that will make a difference to people willing.

Help? [22 Jul 2008|10:26am]
Has anyone found a shady hat that fits their big heads?

I'm getting a leathery complexion, outside most days.
I wore a visor (snore) to shreds and have been carrying a parasol (awkward) lately.

And, here are the sweet folk in my blistering sunny days!

ok SO [22 Jul 2008|12:09pm]
dreading soon in about two weeks.

I did check memories, so don't claw at me too hard :]

I was reading dreadheadhq's site (don't ask why, I know they're dumbasses when it comes to a lot of things) and they said it's a good idea to braid just a few time at the roots THEN start backcombing.

To me, that sounds a bit retarded seeing as when they grow out you'd have dreadBRAIDdread.

But has anyone here done that? Did it work out or backfire for you?

start fresh [22 Jul 2008|12:15pm]
i think this weekend im gunna start my dreads over. i dont know about the rest of you, but i play/ touch/mess with my dreads ALL the time, and its made me realize that when i started these, i was so sloppy and careless in the sectioning/ backcombing that its coming out in there development. i.e i have a flad dread that drives me crazy and i realized its bc the base is 4-6in wide and not even an inch tall. why did i tihnk that would work? and ive found other like that too. there have been indevidual ones ive done over, and i really like those.  so this weekend im going to have a hair overhaul. comb out, repair and re-dread.

wish me luck

Even though this article is old news today was my first time reading it. I'm sure many of you can also relate to having that kind of hair and the sort of re-birth that can happen when you just go with it.

I am Not a Figment of My Own Imagination. [22 Jul 2008|04:06pm]
And, to prove it, I took this picture about 20 minutes ago.

Here you can see mah roots (let me show you dem) with my grays and my unshaven mug. I really don't do much to maintain the roots, and I suppose it shows.

You can also see more of my weight loss. I'm at around 50lbs gone and holding steady. I have lost about four inches off of my waist.

Avy doesn't wanna be in any more pics until after the baby comes (still two more months to go), but she is well, and lil' Xavier is kicking around in her belly pretty much all the time now. Hope everyone is well.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I've heard/read that saltwater spray & rinsing basically has the same effect, but i was curious as to how exactly does the powder works. does it just stick to your hair like salt and make strands rougher and therefore grab on to one another easier? the description makes it sound like the lock peppa crimps up your hair, which would actually be pretty nice for the growing hair at the roots, since my hair is stick-straight...
if you've used it how did it work on your hair?
thank you for any input dears!!

i've had my dreads for only 4 days!  but they're starting to come apart.  I may be going a little crazy but i just need a little help/reassurance/advice.
So you guys told me to add a picture...  this dread is supposed to be one but it's pretty much splitting itself in half.
Any solutions?
