Wool dreads

I looked through allll the memories as carefully as I could and asked Mr.Google, but either I'm blind, or getting my wisdom teeth taken out yesterday is giving me the dumb, or something else, but I can't find anything that has to do with what I'm looking for...

I *love* the look of wool dreads in people's hair. Love it. Love the texture of the wool dreads, and the color possibilities. I have relatively few of my own dreads due to having naturally thin hair, so I'm thinking that there can only be good things in having some wool dreads amidst my own flock :-)

The thing is, I'd like them to be more of a permanent installment than a temporary one which could be achieved with, say, rubber bands or something like that. I'd like to be able to wash them without having to worry about them falling out, or taking them out. I found ways to attach wool dreads to undreaded hair, but I don't have any hair that isn't dreaded except for my crappy diy bangs (ugh), so that's not really an option. Sooo...

1) Is having permanent-ish wool dreads in addition to my own even a good idea? I'm not talking about extensions, I'm talking about adding some actual locks.

2) If the answer to question 1 is "it's not a horrible idea" then how do I attach wool dreads like that to my own hair?

I've been trying to imagine making half of each wool dread skinnier than the other and threading it into the centers of my existing dreads (which are nearly 2 years old, by the way), or attaching them to the roots somehow... I'm not terribly concerned about the wool fusing with my dreads from the inside, not sure if this is a problem, but in the event that I wanted to cut them off I wouldn't want to have colorful wool sticking out of my roots which is why I'm considering the attaching them to the roots a bad idea...

Halp, please! I'm so uncreative when it comes to hair :-/
