One Photo [29 Jan 2009|12:17pm]

Hey guys,

I was just looking at the AITO (Amnesty International Toronto Organization) website, and saw that they had put up the pictures from the 2008 Reel Awareness Film Festival for Human Rights.  If any of you live in the Toronto area I highly recommend coming out for the festival in 2009.  I had such an amazing time handing out flyers on the street, and talking to people involved with the film, and others who are interested in human rights.  It was SO great.

Anyhoo, I found out that there's a picture of me on there from the Q&A session after one of the films.  I'm mid-question with my mouth hanging open so I thought I'd share!

The tam was made by Trashclass :)  she's so sweet.  She made it for me ages ago but I didn't have any good pics.  Sometimes I wear all of my hair in the tam, but for that cold day I wore my hair down to keep my ears warm.

[ mood | bored ]

Hey guys, I posted almost a year ago with my newly formed dreads. And to think by this time of year, my dreads would look absolutely awesome. Unfortunately, I was retarded and took them out after about a week. Since that time, I cut about 8 inches off my head, hoping to donate it to Locks of Love, but I have never gotten around to it. And to be honest, I don't think there's enough to donate, but I've had the ponytail just sitting in my room for 6 months in a bag.
Two or three days ago in school, I got really bored and began backcombing a section of my hair with my hand and then palmrolling. When I got come, I knotted it up a bit more. So now I have a baby dread. I'm kinda experimenting to see how long I'll actually keep it this time, but its really short and underneath the rest of my hair.
Today, I put two and two together and decided to take a little of the hair I cut off 6 months ago, and make an extension.

when this was posted, I knew it'd be useful somehow, but alas, a problem. Unlike extensions my hair isn't connected to a seam like that one, so how should I go about dreading it? I know to sew it in after its dreaded, but without a seam, I don't really know what to do. And I don't want a big hairy mess all over my hands.

Any suggestions?

old set, real hair, and little dread :DCollapse )

NEW! [29 Jan 2009|07:30pm]
It's time to officially de-lurk myself in this community since I finally went and got my dreads done. I've been increasingly camera shy lately, but I thought that documenting my dreads is worthy enough to make an appearance, hehe. It's just so interesting looking at the time lines to see how much they really do change.

Anyways, I have baby dreads, they're just 3 days old. It was a lot of fun having them stick straight out. I thought I looked like a pineapple, but they are calming down now....

Nanodreadlocks! [29 Jan 2009|09:15pm]
I was amused by this somehow - scientists figured out how to grow dreadlocks :)

I found this in the New York Times: http://www.nytimes.com/slideshow/2009/01/26/science/012209-Scienceinpix_index.html?ref=science
