Why no love for natural dreads anywhere but GUDU?

I've searched countless sites on the internet about beginning dreadlocks, and literally almost every site I've been to refers to natural dreads as "neglect" dreads. Kind of a negative connotation since effort still goes into maintaining them. Also, natural dreads are beautiful, and I know to ALOT of people they're the very definition and point of dreadlocks in the first place. Not dissing people who backcomb, since alot do, but people who grow dreads because they believe in letting nature take its course kind of defeat that purpose by spending so much time sectioning and using DreadHeadHQ or KnottyBoy wax or spending money on kits. Here's an example from one of the sites I came across:

"It takes at least 3 years to start looking like dreads in most hair types. You need to have about 10" of hair for the knots to start forming. The dreads form unevenly, some dreads will be huge and flat, others skinny. People usually get sick of having nasty hair and cut it off long before they get dreads."

What a terrible way to describe natural dreadlocks. I tend do admire people with natural locks even more than people who used other methods, and if they take care of their hair properly it's not nasty at all. Why is so much of the internet filled with lies and misconceptions, even on sites that are supposedly devoted to dreads? This community is pretty much the only place I have seen love for natural dreads. Any comments?

It's coming up to 17 months now :D

I haven't posted in a while, but I have been lurking and admiring all of your journey's :)

I thought I'd take some picture to post seeing as I'm in a very excitable mood today - my friends from Holland and Denmark are coming down later and my other friends from B'ham and Milton Keynes are coming down tomorrow. They're all staying for a couple of weeks for the LARP event my flatmate has organised!
Squeee, I can't wait to see everyone and for the event to take place. It's a damn good job I have quite a big flat to squeeze everyone into!
