green city

Lish, please move to NY!

A couple questions. I've read through the relevant memories first, and i've done some research in other places, but i'm still quite confused. And perhaps it would be nice for the community to have a consolidated place with all these answers.

1. What would be a reasonable price to pay at a salon/shoppe for dreadlock maintenance?
I found a hair salon in Soho yesterday that does dreadlocks. So i inquired about maintenance, they gave me a business card and a price quote of $100 for one session. They are very nice, they take people with all kinds of hair, and they seem to be on the earth-friendly trend.

2. Could i just go to a 'loctician' in my own neighborhood that might be cheaper ($60-100) but usually only does textured hair? (i have fine hair.)

3. What are some important things to know about your prospective lock-care professional before you sit down in his/her/hir chair? What questions should be asked?

Unrelated photo time: my friend and i are in a mustache war.

I just realized that with my bangs pinned up, it looks like i have normal hair. My mother will be thrilled!

Some pictures...

I went to visit my Grandma for her 80th birthday, just a quick visit to go to church with her and take her out to lunch after, and finally got some pictures of my hair (including a little hairdo for church) so, thought I'd post them!

They're, 2 months now? Or maybe 3? I've been woefully neglecting them, so there's lots of loose hairs, kinks, curls, loops, and roots that just won't lock up at all, but, eh, they're coming along!

Today I got the CUTEST dreadsleeve ever from knottysleeves and you know I have show it off! =D I cannot believe how incredible she is. ♥

I had such a hard time getting a decent picture of it. Stupid camera. You can also see the rainbow pawprint sleeve she made me!

A giant thank you goes out to knottysleeves all of you guys should hit her up for some accessories because she is amazing!

ETA: I went to see Powerman 5000 with my cousin in law because they were his favorite and I got to take a picture with this smokin' hot bassist from some band (can't remember, whoops) who not only was GORGEOUS but had great locks!

Okay, I'm done now.

(no subject)

So the dreadies are about 5.5 months old. I'm not loving them right now because some of the roots lay weird. I'm sure it's from throwing it in a pony/bun all summer because it was way too hot to deal with.

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!
