Got a new baby dreadie!

So, my single dread was getting lonely... My friend helped me make it a companion! I'm pretty sure my older dread is frozen in time. It just keeps getting super tight but it never grows! Sometimes I wake up in the night thinking I have a rock under my head, but no, it's just my dread.

Also, I got my first tattoo! It's a fertility goddess symbol designed by yours truly.

Um, P.S. there is a very small amount of side-boobage in the tattoo picture so I guess that it might be almost kind of NSFW.

Hair Holders.

In a rather startling chain of events, I was, once again, at Whole Foods for lunch today when a stranger wanted to discuss my hair.

I know, you're shocked.

Except this time it wasn't obnoxious or even remotely annoying.

So yeah, anyway... I was finishing up my food when a man came up to me and said, "Yo, my man, where'd you get that band you have on your locks?"

For reference, this is what I use to keep my hair out of the way:

It's a studded wristband we found at a yard sale several years ago. Nothing special.

Anyway, apparently the guy who approached me is a partner in a company that makes braid/dread/whatever hair holders. He gave me a card and said he'd hook me up with a freebie or something. From what I can tell, the holders are kind of like mini dog collars, have a buckle and are made of hemp or something. He showed me some pictures... they mostly seem to have the red-green-gold or red-green-gold-black motif, which is definitely not my kind of thing as I am not a rasta and wouldn't want to do anything to misrepresent myself as one. Having said this, I may call him to see if he's got anything more subdued or monochromatic.

So there you go... a positive dreadlock-related experience at Whole Foods for once.

four years, twenty days...

I think it may have been over a year since I last posted.

Between fighting the foreclosure crisis, freshly diagnosed chronic diseases, new relationships, and losing my job due to nationwide political scandal, I've had a busy year.

Now, I am unemployed and slowly making my return to the internets.

Just one picture, and experiment- I'll try to do a proper timeline post soon.

2-Year Timeline

I'm feeling pretty lame again. I had intentions of making the effort to really be a part of this community...and then I kept putting off posting. I just went back & found out that I didn't make some of the posts that I thought I did, so...epic timeline time!

Okay, I rambled on enough. I hope everyone has an awesome day, and I hope to be around more to post more soon!

just a few

all right, so my friend steelreserve40z was the first one to show me this community. at the time I sorta-kinda-liked dreadlocks, but they weren't of particular interest to me.

...here I am, a few months later, having made myself a journal and been lurking you all on a regular basis, and with three funny tails sticking out of the side of my head. I was scared of posting for a while due to my proportional lack of dreads, but I saw some fellows in the same situation posting lately and decided to go for it.
