So I have a dread in the back which I sectioned poorly, its about 3 inches wide by almost an inch tall. The middle part of the dread is already pretty tight, but the end came loose and the root is seriously flat ( I know some of you don't mind flatties, but I don't like this one at all.) I'm also realizing with the effect I wanted, I should not have sectioned into a grid - I'm guessing it would have worked better if I just grabbed some pieces and went with them. So the flat dread, I tried to rip it apart from the root but its pretty well established. So here's what I did: I got an inch or two of separation at the root, split it in 2 to make more even sections, and loosely tied a piece of hemp around each of the two parts. Will this eventually grow out into two, with a little persuasion? I don't mind if its a fork for now, as long as it will turn out the right way. Here's a poor shot of what I did:
I also split that flat dread at the other end, combed it out and made 2 dreads. so now I will have a )( shaped dread lol!
Any opinions on how this might turn out for me? Or suggestions on a better solution? I couldn't find anything like this in the memories.
