It's been such a long time!

Oh man! I haven't posted to GUDU since last May when my dreads were 10 months old, and I miss y'all a ton! Tumblr has stolen me away from LJ. I still direct everybody that asks me about creating dreads to this community, though. Picture heavy post, coming right up!

Pokemon Marshmallow

fixing some loose hairs.

Recently I've been pretty blah about my dreads and it was because of all the loose hairs that were sticking out all over. I realize loose hairs are a part of the hairstyle at times, but it was a little out of control and definitely time for some maintenance. Due to the fact that I can't see most of my head, I didn't want to sew them into nearby dreads myself for fear of not getting the sectioning right and having my hair pull at my scalp. So while I was home from college for the weekend I had my wonderful boyfriend sew them in for me using this needle I picked up at a craft store. (I tried using some plastic wide ended needles and they didn't work, but this one was long enough and slid right through.)

Paper Magazine's Beautiful People 2012

hey GUDU! Long time no post! so last month I did my very first professional photo shoot for Paper Magazine and wanted to share. (link to article) I'm the only loc'd lady in the bunch so that's pretty cool. Yes, I'm "smizing". It was FREEZING on the balcony, but I channeled my inner Tyra and pushed through it lol. Anyway, I did the loc knots the night before and then whipped my hair around for these long tight curls so I could have a bit of length. Because my hair is curly you can't see quite how long my locs are, but they're about waist length which is a huuuge departure from when I first started posting here in 2006. Man how time flies. Anyway, I know I'm not here often, but I shout out GUDU every chance I get, so hopefully I've sent some new members your way. Hope everyone's doing well. xo
