Cultural Appropriation

Hello fellow dreadheads :) I haven't been around for a long while and haven't posted either because I've been busy living life! But I've come here today looking for views on cultural appropriation having to do with dreadlocks.

I have always loved wearing dreadlocks and I've never viewed myself wearing them as a fashion statement or anything other than the fact that it is something spiritual to me and they are a part of me that I feel really naked without. I have a friend that went on a rant about how non black people sporting dreadlocks are adding to cultural appropriation.

Basically, I was wondering peoples views on this subject?
