Falling Up.

A month ago, I was apparently really into this kitten.

I don't know if I posted this picture before. But I had knit up a heart and stuck it in my hair. You can see a little of my favorite bead there, I think it's in the front? It's a little skull from my Mom.

Don't look at the shitty doodle, look at the DREADS! They looked so nice and smooth! Now they're getting crazier and loopier which is SO exciting.

They look so daaaaark in this picture. I decided to decorate a bunch and put a little silver jump hoop (or two, or five) on each dread. They move around a bunch though, and fall out when they feel like it, so I don't think they're preventing the dreading process too much.

Then I did a hair wrap, which is ridiculously hard to do on the back of your own head without a mirror.

I'M BEING ATTACKED BY SNAKES! (or licorice. or something else wiggly.)

I did pigtails for the first time today.

And loved them.

I'm heading to the memories after I post this, I need some patterns for knit headwraps (or wraps of any sort). This bandana is boring and I'm sick of sixth graders referring to it as my "rag".

My dreadies got their first dye job before dinner! I got a box of "dark auburn" and a free highlighting kit for "caramel brown" highlights (CObullshitUGH) and although the colors didn't turn out at all like the packages, I think I like the result.

I wanted to keep the medium brown with random light and dark bits mixed in. I think this pictures shows all three.

I did a stripey one too. It's pretty ridiculous and it's not something I would've ever considered doing to my hair (ever. ever), but I got bored with the regular dying process and this was the result.

I've never been happier with my head!

I also recently found a bag of my baby teeth (if "ew" crossed your mind, we wouldn't get along) so I took a few random yarn fibers and wrapped some of the busted ones around a dread on the right side of my head. I try to keep my dreads balanced out with interesting things on each side of my head, otherwise I feel heavy. This is just 2am practice, tomorrow I'll probably use some of the whole teeth to make more functional beads. I wish there was some way I could encapsulate them in resin and make something out of them that way. Any ideas?

(Looks more toothy irl, you can even see fillings. :{D )

Also, if you've managed to read this far and not want to rip my face off: with the holiday season's family gatherings and such, what kind of reactions do you get from your family about your hair? Had they seen you before with dreadlocks? Which of your family member likes them the most?
My extended family has yet to see my locks live, so I will be interested to see their reactions. I'm sure they won't be surprised as they already politely refer to me as "...unique." hah.

I said good day!
