Hey everyone! This is my first time posting to this community. (I pretty much only got a
livejournal because of dreads hehe)
I got my dreads 3 days ago, the night before I got my wisdoms pulled (ouch).. I've been
wanting to post pictures but one can imagine the state I've been in.
I did spend the last couple of days reading through the old posts, and I must say, everyone
here is so beautiful! I've noticed, no two sets of dreads will ever be alike.
My boyfriend spent approximately 12 hours in one day, dreading my hair. He was too
determined to give up, even though his arm was throbbing. "If we don't finish them today,
then you're gonna have to decide when they were started, april 2nd or sometime later?!?!" he
says. So I let him finish, even if it was past midnight into the next day ;) But for what
counts, my dreads were born 04/02/2008.

I had also started a set back in August but combed them out. Seems to be a fairly popular
phenomenon in this forum. For reference, my hair was a LOT shorter.
So I think towards the end, my boyfriend was backcombing, but seemed to be teasing it once
it was backcombed enough. So they feel awfully rough. Hopefully this won't lead to breakage.
But my hair has always been very very strong, even if on the thinner side.
I'm gonna wait about a week from when I dreaded to wash them for the first time. I can't
wait until they calm down a little more, it feels like I have soooooooo much hair. It's
ridiculous. Also, my boyfriend started making them thinner dreads towards the top. Is it
true that thinner dreads take longer to dread up? I could always combine some later, I
suppose. I must have probably at least 80 dreads.
Anyway, just wanted to share! I'll keep updating. I'll take a picture before the shower, and
after to note any changes.
