I know, you're shocked.
Except this time it wasn't obnoxious or even remotely annoying.
So yeah, anyway... I was finishing up my food when a man came up to me and said, "Yo, my man, where'd you get that band you have on your locks?"
For reference, this is what I use to keep my hair out of the way:
It's a studded wristband we found at a yard sale several years ago. Nothing special.
Anyway, apparently the guy who approached me is a partner in a company that makes braid/dread/whatever hair holders. He gave me a card and said he'd hook me up with a freebie or something. From what I can tell, the holders are kind of like mini dog collars, have a buckle and are made of hemp or something. He showed me some pictures... they mostly seem to have the red-green-gold or red-green-gold-black motif, which is definitely not my kind of thing as I am not a rasta and wouldn't want to do anything to misrepresent myself as one. Having said this, I may call him to see if he's got anything more subdued or monochromatic.
So there you go... a positive dreadlock-related experience at Whole Foods for once.
